Going to a cooked vegan potluck and want to impress, but don't know of any breakfast-type items that are gourmet-ish. :) They think I'm a nut but it's still worth a try, thanks!

The last pot luck I went to, desserts went over the best. That's usually the case when I take food in to work for them to try too. I would make a torte - everyone loves that. I use a nut/raisin crust, then a layer of papaya sauce (dried papaya soaked over night and then put in the blender along with the water you soaked it in and blend up to the consistency of apple sauce), then top with fresh fruit. It's a HUGE hit and simple to make.

Making a raw crêpe type thing is delicious and usually goes over well.

I just made the Raw Apple Pie from therawtable.com Simple and unbelievably good. My husband loved it. I'm trying the raw Carrot Cake next.

you know i made this tonight and made a note in my mac gourmet program (on my puter) to make it for any pot luck i'm invited to.

take as many mushrooms as you want and cut them into slices.
put in large bowl and coat with olive oil. keep adding more oil as it gets absorbed into the shrooms.
use a garlic press and add to mixture.
now add some lime juice.
next i added some garlic salt...

OH MY it was amazzzing. very very yummy and people could have them on the side. reaaaalllly good.
