I'd like to know, too. I use it and didn't know it was considered a no-no.

My guess is because it is made from the concentrated juice of grapes. Moreover, many commercial vinegars are pumped, so as to excel the oxidation process, thus allowing faster production, as the fermentation process of 'real' vinegar takes quite a while. That's my guess..

Don't worry about it, I use it and feel great!!! If you feel ok using it than keep on using it. If you can find unpasteurized kinds, I have found lots of them. If you want to go lighter on the acid factor, you can mix it with apple cider vinager. Sometimes I mix it sometimes I don't. I won't however give it up!

For some, I guess balsamic vinegar is okay, but it contains sulfites. Sulfur dioxide is listed in the ingredients.
If I eat dried fruit preserved with sulfites, vingar preserved with sulfites or evin lettuce from a salad bar  I get a major migraine headache. Raw made me even more sensitive to sulfites than I already was.
Try replacing the balsamic vinegar with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar for a while and see how you feel.

There are no raw food police. If it helps YOU to eat more fresh, raw, unprocessed plant foods - then go for it. Just my opinion, but it's all about YOUR goals - you know?

You will find that there are people out there who will find something wrong with every damn thing you ingest. Just eat what works for you and don't waste your time worrying about what everyone else thinks about what YOU eat. Who cares what they think anyway?? YOU are unique and YOU are YOU!! :D

Commenting on rawstrengths post....there are many with sulfites in them. However buying an unpasteurized organic brand will avoid buying one with sulfites. I personally don't eat anything containing sulfites if I can help it so yeah, just my opinion.

What are you using it for ??

I ask because some people use it for hair conditioner instead of commercial products which are very toxic and most have many chemicals in them.

Balsamic vinegar as a hair conditioner? I must say this is very intriguing....I use all organic conditoners and no shampoo but I would love to know what this is all about. If you know more, kindly explain!
