Hi!
I've just made the recipe for Alissa's chocolate cake and I think I may have done it wrong. I soaked the walnuts and dates, thinking I should. It was really difficult to mix up, clinging to the sides of my food processor. The only way I could get it to mix up was to add water. This kind of made a sloppy "batter". So my question is, do you soak the nuts for these cake recipes? I've made the torts before and didn't soak the nuts and they came out great, like is described, but always had in the back of my mind "I should have soaked the nuts". Any thoughts??
Thanks!

If the recipe calls for soaked nuts, then soak them. If not, don't. OR, soak and dry.

Thanks, Revvell. I think I will try that next go around, the cake has a texture problem!

You soak the nuts to activate the enzymes. You don't need to soak dates. You can strain the nuts and dry them. But I've made desserts with soaked nuts strained then right into the food processor with the dates. No water needed. Suzy;)

Yeah her book says not to saok unless stated I think? So I guess if you wanna soak for the benefits just dehydrate afterwards.
