Okay so I've noticed that I can't take hot baths anymore. I come out all dizzy and feeling like crap for about 45 minutes. YUCKO.
So my friend told me that she had the same experience when she went raw...and she asked around and many other rawbies had the same experience.
So... if you are experiencing this... and can no longer have a hot bath... transfer yourself to a warm bath instead.
Weird eh? I wonder why this is...

That's odd......I wonder why? Good to know though.

This happens to me sometimes too. I've learned to stand up from the hot bath in stages, or else I feel all faint and woozy. Also, make sure you're drinking enough water.
I like hot baths with epsom salts for detox and muscle ease, but I do have to go very slowly from lying down to standing up.

I looooove taking hot baths when I'm freezing--but I DO feel all dizzy and dehydrated afterwards :( I can only really stand the water for about 20 minutes then I have to get out or add some colder water.
My problem is that when it's hot, it's too hot, but when it's warm it's too cold! :( I'm so temperature challenged

I have to take a bottle of water in to drink when I have a bath. Then I don't have any problems.

The trick I've discovered (I cannot give up my hot baths, wouldn't be walking without 'em cuz of FM!) is to rinse in the shower afterwards, first hot, then warm, then ICE COLD  for a minute or two! {Learned this trick when I lived in Texas, every bath ended with a cold shower, so I could handle the heat!)
Soooooo envigorating, no more after shower dizziness!
Try it, you'll love it!!! {Maybe! :D }
I can't even IMAGINE a warm bath...shudder...

Heat is enervating. Cold is energizing. We've numbed ourselves out in so many ways. Now we're coming alive!!!! How cool is that?
So, the answer here is to do a series of hot/cold showers to balance out. Start with hot; get wet all over including top of head; neck; spine. The cold... 7-10 rounds and you'll come out feeling GREAT!!!

i don't like cold water at all... so i'll stick with a warm bath... or perhaps start off hot and then add cold to cool it down before getting out. i could do that. :D

Another from my teacher. Surprisingly very calming yet invigorating. He mentions it somewhere in one of his blogs. Lemme know how you like it, eh?

i was just reading that people who take cold showers live longer!!
and
naturopaths often reccomend people open their showers with 10-15 seconds of cold water, then warm/hot, then end in same cold way!
maybe we are needing colder showers because of detox and this is why we don't react well to hot?
i like the cold blasts before and after showers, it's fun : )

Omigosh I hate cold showers, but maybe it's because I haven't been raw long enough yet.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

i get dizzy after hot salt baths too... i usually drink water while i'm in there and sometimes eat a banana before i get out, which helps. i always thought it was just from losing electrolytes.

I'm not saying take cold showers. I'm saying alternate between hot and cold. It's called hydrotherapy. It's about coming to balance. Hot alone is one polarity; cold is the other. Do it one time ~ 7 rounds ~ and see how you feel. It's amazing!
*sits and waits patiently for M_B to come back after doing it*

I'm enjoying mildly hot showers still, but that could be due to living in a colder climate. As it gets warmer outdoors, I tend to want cooler showers and vice versa. So far no nausea tho - but thanks for bringing it up! It probably would have taken me a bit to make the connection.

I just found this cool link regarding cold showers for reducing anxiety and depression. Check it out!

Oh my gosh... me neither  However, I live in the cold north and it's *just* starting to warm up a bit now... so that's probably why! I have been ending my showers the past while on a "cool" note... can't do cold yet lol!!

I remember a few years ago I did a sauna and then came out and poured cold water over me, but I started directly at my heart area...and it gave me a huge shock...literally a shock, and my knees gave and I fell down. It was the worst experience ever!
That said though, I don't think the purpose here is hot or cold...it's just warm and cool, right? Or are people really getting into a shower with only the cold knob turned???
I've been doing cool/warm showers the past few mornings and I've noticed that I'm not producing as much mucous, which has been great.

No, it's HOT and COLD. Start with HOT, then turn the hot OFF, go COLD; turn the HOT back up (being care-filled not to scald), then COLD... 7-10 rounds, about :30-:60 (seconds, not minutes) each. Do NOT do this on your heart area at first ~ head, neck, spine, underarms, turn around, get the front ~ change the temp.
What I'm finding interesting here is, people are so about extremes. They'll go from SAD to fasting (raw is the middle ground); And then they'll go from raw to the totally worst food program one can imagine... yet when someone suggests something that will bring them into balance... like raw food and hydrotherapy.... *shudders* ;)

I think Revvell was saying the same thing. The cold water rinse or blast after a hot/warm bath or shower increases blood circulation and your skin will look great too. It's also good for detoxification because the cold water pulls toxins to the surface of the skin. It's also good to combo this with dry skin brushing.
