How does one know he is getting rid of Candida? Are there any symptoms to look for? Of course, other then the obvious feeling better thing, that is. Does it get worse before it gets better, and if so, how can that be if it's going away?

Do you know you have it for sure? If you have any noticeable symptoms you should notice them lessen. For me, things sort of roller coastered until they got better. It would flare up once in awhile. It takes determination and a lot of time to take care of it.

Apparently, the "spit test" is supposed to prove you have candida.
Read about it here:
http://www.candidasupport.org/candidatests.html#SALIVA%20TEST
It is basically just spiting into a glass of water first thing in the morning - if your spit sinks, you have candida.
Yeast infections is supposed another symptom of candida. That is what Alissa had - you can read about it at the beginning of her book.
I have something called tinea veriscolor which is white spots on your skin which are apparently caused by yeast fungus. They are not visible right now because I am not tan currently but if I tan I tan unevenly.
How to get rid of it? well, many people say just go $100 raw and it will go away. Others need to do more cleansing (like colon cleansing). Some people follow a low sugar diet (Gabriel Cousens has one for is supposed to be for candida).
There are anti-fungals you can take (you see them in the vitamin sections of the store). Pau D' Arco tea is an anti-fungal.
There is an interesting thread here about how candida might cause cancer and how baking soda can kill the candida (more of a theory right now). Don't know the specifics about how to do the baking soda so it can kill the candida inside of you though (i wouldnt go eating baking soda just yet!)

Anyhow, I hope I helped a bit. Candida is a bit confusing as you will hear conflicting info on it (what causes it and what the symtoms are etc).
