Ok, I finished a whole week raw. I gotta tell you I would have never believed that I could go a whole week and now I'm thinking I can do this long term. I went from SAD to 100% raw overnight on a whim. I had seen Alissa on Trya several months ago and even though at the time I thought there was no way, it has stuck with me and last weekend I was in Whole Foods and I read a display about eating raw and then that was it. I filled my cart, came home and ordered Alissa's books and DVD and just started eating raw. Her stuff came in 2 days (thankyou Alissa!) and I have already read the whole book and tried several recipes.
So I lost 9 lbs this week! And that was even feeling like I ate too many nuts, etc... I'm going to trust my body and yes it was exciting to eat nuts after years and years of semi starvation diets but I think that will settle down and my nuts will moderate. My favorite meals have been kale salads and fettucine marinara.
And today I discovered that a local health food store carries a big raw foods section including dehydrated sunflower crispy breads. YES!
I am buzzing with energy and excited about this whole thing. yesterday I woke up and WANTED to excersise.
You guys, I have a lot of weight to lose but today I have hope. This is a food plan that is easy, I can travel with it, no weighing, no measuring, no points, I'm hooked!
I look forward to making this journey with all of you here!

Wow, Anita, your enthusiasm & energy are palpable!!! Good for you for just recognizing the incredible rightness of this lifestyle, & going for it! Keep listening to your body, & stay open to trying new things, & you'll do wonderfully! :D
A tip that has helped me is to cut new recipes in half (or even a quarter) the first time you make them, to save on wasted ingredients if you don't quite like it (yet...your taste buds do change, & 'expand their horizons' the longer you're raw!)...& also, then you can play with the recipe, & change it to accomodate your preferences~
Welcome to the wonderful world of REAL food! :p

I went from coffee, sugar, chocolate, high-fat dairy, all kinds of junk, to raw. I have lost 6 pounds. I am hoping to keep this up.

Wow Anita! That is so awesome! I too went from a SAD junk eater to 100% overnight, and I'm definitely in it for life.
Your energy and enthusiasm bless all of us, and remember we're here to help if you hit any bumps along the way!!
Good job, Anita! http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii81/outsideanimage/clap.gif

I have just finished day three of raw and haven't had any problems at all so far! I have only lost about 2 lbs so far but I don't have a lot to lose :)

Seren!! Woo Hoo!! Someone else in England.
I have been feeling so lonely because it seems like most of the people on this site are in the States. I am in the Northumberland area.
I am hoping to find more people that might want to do a weekend get-together so we can all learn from each other. I am pretty new to this too, and don't seem to be getting the hang of dehydrating things. And, I would like some other ideas for food.
I want to get as close to 100% as I can.

Hey RawDrop!! Yeah its great when I find someone else in the UK on here! There are waaay more on here than when I first joined! Ohhh Northumberland is near Scotland isnt it? I may be going to St Andrews university in september!!
There is a vegan festival in london on soon, it has a huuge raw section to it, you should come down! Me and my family are going. If I get into St Andrews a get together sounds good - I think there are a few people on this site from scotland and northern england.
Good luck on your raw journey! I have just finished day three all raw :D how are you finding it? xxx

Go Anita...I remember feeling exactly the same as you 21 days ago! It IS exciting, isn't it? Like someone turned the switch to "on." Good luck and it sounds like you're gonna do great!
