I'm just not fond of avos.... unfortunately. So does anyone know of a good way to "hide" them?

Soups, puddings, salads with many other ingredients & a flavorful sauce/dressing.
My mom HATED avocados just a year ago. I started putting just a bit in salads, and soon enough she was addicted to them!

Ohhh countless!
Firstly, you could put some avo in a green smoothie along with your fruits and greens - I promise you woudn't know it was there! And it makes the smoothie slightly creamy as if you had added dairy - very nice :)
- or fruit smoothies for that matter.
Secondly, when you make fruit puddings (ie blended fruit with whatever you usually put with it) you can put some avocado in there too which you won't taste.
Thirdly, if you have seen a recipe on here for like a chocolate torte or something like that, there is avocado in that which you can't taste at all! So you could put it in any chocolate recipes to make the chocolate extra creamy without tasting any different.
Also, if you put them in small proportions in pasta (spiralised veg) sauce it also makes it very nice without adding much (or any) flavour.
Hope that helps!

thank you all so much... I was thinking about putting it in my smoothie... should I start with say... 1/4 avo and work my way up... or can I put in half and not notice it? lol. I sure hope I start to love them soon.

I used to hate them too, but then found a guacamole recipe that I adore. I like to eat it on onion bread or celery sticks:
avocados
lots of fresh corn off the cob
onion
garlic
salt
Just blend the avocado, onion, and garlic in the food processor, then dump in the corn and salt. Yum!
If you really can't stand them, even in guacamole, then adding them to your salad dressing is a great way to eat them without tasting them.
Good luck!

yea my little brother (12 yrs old) couldn't stand looking at them at some point......but when he tried a chocolate pudding (avocado+banana+maybe some dates+cocoa) he couldn't have enough of it!!!

Along with the chocolate pudding and/or chocolate mousse pie recipes, I also like avo mixed in (chopped up and mixed in) with that Raw Deviled Eggless Spread recipe that's floating around here! Gave me the illusion of really being like an egg salad and works really well in that recipe, IMHO. I also find avo works well in salad dressing recipes if you want a creamy dressing but perhaps not a lot of nuts. Just be sure you have other seasonings, ACV, etc. to help mask the flavor of avo that you do not care much for.

My hubby couldn't stand avo's until I made the kale salad in Alissa's book. Now, he requests it daily. The avo mixes in and becomes the creamy salad dressing. It's very good & does not taste like avo.

Hahaha I dislike them, too!!! THey are terribly cocnvenient when starting out, though. I didn't read through the whole of this thread, but I can tell you personally that I either put them in smoothies (as suggested by Recycling Goddess), which WILL mask the taste and make a creamy smoothie, or I use them like I would use butter..... You don't put a huge chunk of butter with plain lettuce and call it a salad..... You work it in as a condiment, using it more as a complement to the other ingredients.... If you eat flax crackers, maybe use it as a spread and then add veggies on top (I think tomato would taste best), or mash up the avo really well and then add it into a salad which has a good amount of other ingredients, than add seasoning... I would suggest sea salt and cracked pepper.

Yes I put a whole Avo in my Green Smoothies and as Seren said it makes it a nice creamy texture and you can't taste it a bit. My 9yr old son eats/drinks the smoothies as well as my 2yr old daughter. Had I just handed them a Avo to eat i imagine 'No Thanks" would be the look I got from them.

What are the benefits of eating the pit? I like the Avo meat; but no skin or pit. That doesn't sound good to me.

the benefits are:
highest in soluble fiber. Oatmeal has some, but it cannot compare with the avocado seed.
full of raw protein, minerals, vitamins and of course, its loaded with phytochemicals!
