View Full Version : Are my threads boring or something?

I don't know whether Im doing something wrong but every time I post a thread no-one comments back! Its not like its stuff that people can't answer because they are normal questions not requiring any depth of knowledge... Im sorry I sound so bitchy right now its just kind of depressing when you want help and people are so reluctant to give it.. despite me answering everything I possibly can!

Yeah, sweetie, it happens to me too. No, you're not boring; it's not anything personal. I haven't checked out your posts yet but I've been hanging around here for awhile and got a feel for this wonderful board. Sometimes I've posted a question that had been hashed over so many times that people didn't want to go there again. I've learned to use the search button more and contribute to a discussion that was already going on, deepening the topic that way. Also, sometimes I've had too technical of a question that I had to go research myself. I was getting ready to go back and answer one of my own questions, thinking it may be of some assistance to others.
Some people get on and ask for medical advice that others don't feel qualified to give. It can take time and patience for someone who's had that specific health problem to get on, read it, process, respond with their experiences.
I've been busy on the global juice feast thread with a group of folks and amused to see several other people starting similar threads instead of sharing in that one. They may be wondering why they're not getting more responses; again, it's a matter of using the Search engine. :)

sorry serena, that you havn't been recieving replies! that's not nice at all! maybe the titles of your posts sound like things people feel have already been answered? i'm not sure as i havn't checked out your posts yet. please hang in though, this is a great discussion site and you'll make lots of friends and get lots of replies from the lovily people eventually.
all the best to you sweet heart! j

Thanks Stina :)
I use the search engine most of the time but theres just some things you cannot find on the search engine! For example the comparison of my blender to a vitamix or newgena - the newgena is pretty new and so there won't be many posts on this but I searched for vitamix (as in how well it blends up nuts and dates) but I couldn't find anything! Maybe I post too much and people see my anme and think 'oh hell, not her again, Im not even going to bother reading that!'
Maybe I am being paranoid and self - obsessed? lol :o

Seren,
I understand you feeling frustrated and all heck, even I'VE had posts go unanswered and yes, it gets annoying at times and it REALLY frustrates me when someone asks a question and I give an answer and they never come back to say "thanks" but then they're asking other questions after that. But I realize that sometimes people forget or whatever so, I don't stew in it.
But back to you (sorry for ranting there myself)...well, okay, I took a look at all threads started by you. Most of them dated back to 2007 and 2006 and most of them had a LOT of replies although I did find a few that had 0 replies. Okay, let's fastforward to 2008.
I saw I think 3 threads started by you for this year and they were questions that people probably just do not have the answers for.
So...it's really not as bad as you think/feel. The post about Healthrestore.net sounded more like a rant and you needing to vent and blow off some steam about them sending you the wrong blender and not really a question that needed answering. The one you started today...well again, it was posted on a Saturday (not one of the busiest, most active days around here) and, it's only been one day and sometimes, yeah, you do have to bump posts up so they're seen again and maybe say something like, "Anyone? Please?" or something to grab attention to it.
So, try to cheer up...as Stina said, it's really nothing personal!

Thanks Rawkinlocs :)
I must sound lke such a spoilt brat! I guess it was just that every other post was being answered apart from mine, even today... but I guess I may be posting things that people can't answer!
I think I am having a bit of a bad day too so Im ranting more than usual!
Thanks for your reply :)
OH while we are here! Do you have a vitamix? How does it cope with dates and nuts with a little bit of water?
Thanks in advance! Love Seren xxx

Hmmm...I think I'd be more inclined to do dates and nuts in a food processor...but if you want to try the Vitamix, I'd suggest blending your nuts a little bit first, then adding the dates and water. I've just never tried it and I don't own the most recent model (5200, mine is a 4500) so I don't know for sure if it "should" work or not on that.
Oh and trust me, I KNOW about bad days. When I'm feeling kinda snippity, I usually try to refrain from posting 'cause I KNOW it'll show up in my replies and yall do NOT want that! LMBO! :p

Sorry you're having a bad day.
Yeah,I know what you mean, there have been times when I've
felt ignored on a message board,so I can empathise/sympathise.
From my experience,I've learned that it's nothing personal ,though.
But I know it can feel that way, especially if you're having a rough time of
it.
Hey,we've all been there.:)
I'm sending positive thoughts your way.:D

Aw thankyou so much! All of you! You are all so kind :) I am so grateful for all your support!
Thanks Rawkinlocs, I was worrying that my blender (not a vitamix but meant to be nearly as good as) wasn't good enough! But maybe its just the wrong sort of thing to put in there, I just threw it all in and expected it to blend up perfectly! :o
Thanks again all :D *hugs all back*

I just joined the Board yesteday, and it seems really nice and active. I have noticed that people take a while to respond, but it is all very encouraging stuff. Hang in there!!!!

I rarely check in at all on the weekends, this is a rare thing for me tonight. So Rawkinlocs is so right about that one. When I have popped in on a Saturday it's really quiet here.
I KNOW it's not personal cause this group is just too awesome for that!! Seriously, this is best internet forum family I've found yet!!:D
And my VitaMix would not be able to do that, I'd have to use my food processor. The VitaMix needs some liquid or it binds up, in my personal experience.
I'm glad you got plenty of responses to this thread!:D

How CAN it be personal when we don't even know you! You, like most everyone else here is a stranger. So, don't take it personally. It happens to me, too.
Oh, and another thing I just thought of: Most likely, many of the user names here belong to the same person, disguised as someone different. So, with that in mind, if that person is not the kind to answer certain type of posts, it will look like there are less people that are answering you.My theory, anyway!

it could be that you are posting the same questions in different threads. cross posting is pretty frowned upon on forums:
http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=39028
http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=38949
and you've asked it in this thread as well!
all three threads in the current threads right now.
what i find... many new people to forums want instant answers to their posts. they forget that the members have lives, they are off doing stuff and when they do spend a few of their precious 1440 minutes of their day here (or any other forum) they want to read, learn and answer as much as possible. when they find a poster who asks the same things in different threads... they tend to have their eyes glaze over and they move onto the next thread.
patience my dear... patience! (((hugs)))

Thankyou everyone for your replies!
RG, In the first thread you put a link to I was asking about a specific instance and specific incidence to compare to other peoples blenders. The second thread you posted a link to I posted first as I didn't know what to do about the situation of them sending me the wrong thing, not about the power of the blender, and in this thread, I admit, was because I was having a bad day and it seemed like at the time lots of people were posting on other threads but mine were being ignored, as they were the only ones with no replies. Anyway Im over it! I realise my mistake and usually I wouldn't have posted a thread like this on any other occasion.
ps, Im not new, Ive been on these boards about two years :) xxx

Hi Seren! You know I read a lot of the posts but don't always add to them. No reason really except the time it takes, I pick and choose and answer the ones that are more related to me.
BUT, I have to say, when I start a thread, I get very excited when someone actually responds! It's exciting. :) Then I had one that only one person responded to and it was a little depressing. :(
I think we all know how you feel.

Gee, Rawlinlocs, I hope I wasn't one who inadvertently offended you by forgetting to thank you!!!! It definitely wasn't personal---I am not on the board every day, and if it's not on the first page or two, I sometimes forget about it. I didn't clue in until recently that I could "subscribe" to a thread! LOL. And a shout out to everyone else as well---I am ALWAYS grateful for any replies--and if I miss thanking anyone, I am humbly and truly sorry.
Did that sound paranoid?????:o Don't mean to be....I truly love and appreciate this board!!!
And Seren...I agree with Snoozy...I don't often answer unless it really speaks to me--my time on here is so limited and there are so many threads!! Plus, sometimes, I just have no clue what to say.

I will keep an eye out for your posts, Seren, and answer any that I'm able to! Lol. Even if you rant about a blender, I'll acknowledge your frustration. Not trying to patronize you or anything. I don't like my posts going unanswered either.
Be well,

streeeetch.....yawn............yep! definitely boring! Hee!:D ;)
This is a very busy time though. Many people are just trying to get kids to school, work done, and get ready for the big fluffy easter bunny. Or kids home during spring break. From Nov until after easter it seems like one holiday after the next.
I have personally been on the board very little the past three months. Just try bumping them up after a day or two so that they don't get lost. It can take time before someone with the right info sees it. And some people are really just to shy to comment yet.
Don't worry, you are not boring at all.
big HUG!!
