this is sarmas recipe.... it's not all raw cause of the maple syrup. but man it's delish!!!!
3 cups died, unsweetened coconut flakes
1 1/2 cup fine almond flour
1 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup coconut butter
1 T vanilla extract
1/2 t sea salt
1. in a large bowl, combine all the ingredient and stir well to combine. you can also use a standing mixer with the paddle attachment.
2. using a small ice cream scoop, your hands, or a big tablespoon, spoon rounds of the dough onto dehydrator screens. if you are using your hands, it helps to refrigerate the mix a bit prior to forming the macaroons. Dehydrate at 115 or 12 to 24 hours, or until crisp on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside.
ENJOY!!!!

I found that when I made the macaroons I liked the crispy crunchy pieces that fell off when I took them out of the dehydrator, so next time I'm going to spread the batter about a 1/4'' thick and after it's dried through I'm going to crumble it!

Yes, that is what we do. However use 1/2 the qty as they are a bit too sweet to begin with and agave is much sweeter than Maple.:o

I have this book (& recipe of course) but never tried this recipe. I was just about to go make it after reading this post only to realize I don't have enough almonds.
This is not the first time this forum motivates me into making a recipe I have which I just never got to trying. I bet I have tons of recipes in my 10 or so raw recipe books that are to die for which I simply didn't try yet!
Thanks for posting this, hopefully I'll get the almonds tomorrow and make it.

I used agave instead of maple when I made Sarma's chocolate macaroons. It worked beautifully.

Wow, I just made these (with 3/4 cup agave rather than 1 cup maple syrup) and they have barely dehydrated for 30 minutes but I had to try one and they are incredible! I'll be eating more of them before they're done.
I was looking for recipes I can make a lot of in advance in another thread and this is a great one, and not too expensive per calorie either.

I use the lemon chewie recipe and leave out the citrus. They have a great texture and are much like macaroons!!

MM! I just made these, and I must say it's very hard letting these dehydrate! I just want to eat them as is!

Does anyone have an estimate of how many cups of almonds it will take to make 1 1/2 cups of almond flour.
I have never made almond milk before, so I don't have a clue...
