Hi all!

I'm looking for a juicer that can handle wheatgrass along with fruit juices (particularly orange). I was looking at the Omega 8003, but I was wondering if it is good for oranges as well as other greens and carrots?

Does anyone have a juicer they highly recommend for those types of fruits and veggies?

Also, I'm looking to get a high powered blender. I'm thinking to get a vitamix or maybe a blendtec. not sure yet. Can anyone recommend one? I'd really like to stay under $300 if possible. Thanks! :)

I recently upgraded my old juicer to an Oscar Vitalmax 900 and I must say I have been pleasantly surprised that the claims of improved performance over older models are... TRUE!

My old Samson/Matstone would make a mushy mess of citrus fruits, for example, but the Oscar does an absolutely superb job. It also makes a very reasonable attempt at juicing cucumber (a very difficult fruit to juice effectively, even with the best juicing equipment). All in all, I'm very pleased with the DA 900 and would honestly recommend it very highly, from actual personal experience, irrespective of the advertising hype.

I'm not certain whether the Omega 8003 is a direct equivalent to the Oscar Vitalmax DA 900, you'll need to check that for yourself. All I can say is that my Samson/Matstone single auger juicer was nowehre near as good as my new DA 900, even though they look, and operate, very similarly, so be careful and do not assume that a model that looks similar to the Oscar DA 900 will actually perform as well as the DA 900, because it may not.

Hi J,

Thanks so much for the info! It sounds like you have a great juicer. I wish I had seen this yesterday, as I *just* placed an order for an Omega 8003 yesterday along with a Blendtec... Hopefully the Omega will work out as well as the Oscar...

Thanks again for the reply, and if it doesn't work out I'll definitely check out the Oscar.

Well, all the juicer manufacturers periodically introduce ongoing improvements to their auger designs, without necessarily advertising the fact to their customers, so you may find an up-to-date Omega does a great job, too.

In a worst-case-scenario, however, do bear in mind that Oscar will sell you their auger assembly for use with other manufacturers' machines (it's very simple to fit, just four screws and you're done, without opening the machine itself).
