I've just became aware that you can easily sprout lentils with a jar, elastic band, and a plastic mesh screen.

Just like in this YouTube video:

How to Grow Bean Sprouts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-1V4vtV8Yo)

Has anyone tried this?

Any tips or suggestions?

I'm looking for an easy low cost solution for protein, and nutritional benefits.

Thanks

I sprout lentils. I wasn't sure if I liked them at first, but I've learned to love them! I read that the nutritional value is highest when the "tail" is about the same length as the lentil. I put them in salads, in wraps, in nori rolls, on crackers with guacamole, or just eat them with a bit of olive oil and salt and pepper. Yum!

Hi Andre,

I've got a lazier version! I soak the lentils overnight in any old bowl that covers the lentils completely.

The next morning I strain out the water by dumping them in a colander (make sure the holes are small enough that they don't escape!). I rinse them a few times each day and the water just runs out the colander, as you want to keep the lentils just moist, not wet.

Easy and Simple! Hope that helps, Alicia

That's what I do too. I learned it off of Alissa's dvd. It makes sprouting so much easier than messing with all of the jars and things. Plus you can do a huge amount at once if you want to.
