When I get pregnant, I'm hoping to stay away from cacao. I'm very chocolate addicted and any kind of chocolate makes my heart race. I'd love to find some raw carob goodies...anyone know of any? I found these:

http://www.amazon.com/Kookie-Karma-Raw-Carob-Truffle/dp/B000I67612

but know nothing about them and can't seem to find any others.
I know I can easily make some myself, but sometimes it's easier just to buy.
Thanks!

Those are pretty good. Kookie Karma has nice products. You can also take Raw Priestess's brownie recipe & substitute with carob.

P.S. I may be able to get them cheaper for you.

I forgot Raweos are carob-based, but I had the scariest experience with those. I bought some about a month ago online (from a different company) and when they came in, I bit into one and found that it was inedible. I couldn't believe how bad it was...and then I noticed the expiration date--it expired in 2006!!!
So now I know to check the dates, but I'm just scared to buy them again, lol.

ewwwwwww that is NASTY!! i'll definitely be checking expiration dates. i only ever got them once though, because they are quite pricey here. i prefer to make my own. Like Gilmore Girl said, you can usually just substitute carob for cacao in most thing. just remember untoasted is healthier : )

Has anyone tried the truffles here in Alissa's store? I was just looking at them before I came across this thread and was wondering if they are good, they look yummy!

Yes, the truffles are excellent. Best prepared raw chocolate snacks available.

I never tried the Raweos because I heard too many negative things.

Hello Raene!

The company you referred us to on this post uses carob instead of cacao in all their chocolate procucts:

My shipment went out today (12 hours after ordering!) and I can't wait to get the stuff. Thanks again!

Uhh, of course! Thanks, I completely spaced out. We don't carry any of the carob ones at our store, so I didn't think of them. Thanks, I'll definitely have to place an order now.

I tried the Raweos (a couple different varieties) a few months ago, and they were NASTY! All I could taste was old coconut. I searched for an expiry, and I couldn't find one.

I like Lara bars okay (although it seems they may not be perfectly raw), and almost all of the other raw treats I've tried, but those Raweos... it took a whole day to get the nasty taste out.

Maybe my experience was unique, but... beware!
