Does anyone have a good recipe for apple pie? I do have a dehydrator and springform pan.

Thanks!

I don't have an apple pie recipe, but this cobbler recipe is really good:

Filling
6 cups chopped diced apples
1 cup agave nectar
1/4 cup Olive Oil
2 T. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. Sea Salt

Crust
4 cups raw pecans
1 cup agave nectar
1 cup raw apple juice
1 T. cinnamon
1 tsp. Sea Salt

Caramel topping
1 cup pecan meal
2 T. Pumpkin pie spice
1 T. Sea Salt

Combine all cruist ingredients in food processor and process until smooth. Place into 8" pie pan and dehydrate 6 hours at 115 deg. Prepare filling by placing all filling ingredients in large mixing bowl. Toss together and place on a teflex sheet in dehydrator for 4 hours at 100 degrees. For final assembly fill cobbler crust with apple filling and top with caramel topping. combiner topping ingredients and sprinkle over top.

I've also made this by simply creating the crust on a teflex sheet and putting filling on top, and dehydrating together, already assembled (minus the topping).

:)

I love the YUMMY APPLE COBBLER from MaRaw. It has also become a favorite of my husband's, as well as our non-raw friends. (After popping it in the dehydrator, you can't tell it's not cooked...)

If you want a true apple pie, you could just create a raw crust and VOILA!

Good luck...

Hello!:p

I have made this four times since Thanksgiving. It is THE most amazing pie - raw or cooked. I even asked that it be my BDay cake!

I use the Oat Crust recipe from Renee Underkopffler book Living Cuisine as it's has a more authentic taste and mouth feel.

A must is the acidulated apple for the topping - really!

This recipe is from www.rawglow.com however copied with great photo from:

Raw Apple Pie!

"OH MY GAWD this is SO GOOD!
Yesterday, I decided to try a recipe for
Raw Apple Pie,
and well, OH BABY is about all I can say.
There was enough of this filling for two pies, so I whipped up another crust. After it chilled for a couple hours, we shared some with our upstairs neighbours and they thought it was AWESOME! Later, we had company and nobody could believe it was raw, good for you, and had no sugar in it. It was so delicious, both pies are gone now as I type this! But it's so easy, it's nothing to whip up more" :)

Equipment needed: food processor, dehydrator

Ingredients:

7 fuji apples
juice from 1/2 lemon
*1/4 and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup dates
1/8 teaspoon lemon zest

Roughly chop 5 apples and pulse them in the food processor until they are in tiny pieces. Pour the lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon over them and dehydrate them on low for a few hours. (Rawkin' note: I did it for 4.) In a blender (or fp) blend 2 finely chopped apples (add to the blender first), 1 cup dates, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon lemon zest to make an apple sauce. Mix the applesauce and the dehydrated apples in a bowl. Pour the mixture into a pie crust. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Pie Crust:
1 and 1/2 cups raw *almonds
1 cup pitted dates
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon virgin coconut oil (optional)
1 vanilla bean, seeds scooped out (optional)

Process almonds in a food processor with the S blade until a coarse almond flour. Add dates, coconut oil, and cinnamon to the food processor and process with the S blade until the mixture forms dough. Press the dough into a pie pan.

(Rawkin' note: I added spiralized apple 'laces' soaked in lemon juice for the top of the pie, and this added just the right 'tang'...)

*1/4 needed for dehydrated apples, 1/2 needed for apple 'sauce' mixture

Also here is a link to my Thanksgiving thread where I have a few photos of the pie at post #9.

Here's my two cents!

Apple Pie

Crust:
• 1 ½ cups soaked almonds, walnuts or pecans
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 ½ cups dates

Process nuts to a fine meal. Add other ingredients & continue to process until it comes together as a crust. Spread in pie plate.

Filling
• 1 cup soaked dates or date paste
• 1 teaspoon lemon zest
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
• 6 large apples (3 shredded; 3 sliced- this is important for "cooked" texture)
• ½ cup raisins or currants, soaked

Puree dates, lemon zest, & spices in a food processor. Add to a large bowl with apples & raisins. Mix to combine. Put into pie crust & refrigerate a couple hours or overnight.
