I need to know what I did wrong here. I tried a pure water fast. Within 24 hours I was so stiff I couldn't get out of bed. My legs were like wood and I had to lift myself up off the floor using my arms. I couldn't even bend my feet. It was terrible. I am still so stiff and I decided I had to break the fast 12 hours ago. I drank tons of water, got enough salt, etc. so what happened?

Not sure without more info but if you are new to raw the chances are that you threw your body into such a severe detox that it couldn't handle it. If you have been eating SAD for many years and then go raw you will go into detox. You need to start out slow!!

Salt? why salt? My understanding of a water fast is pure water. No salt. So, I'm curious, why salt?

water fasts are tough on me, too. i don't even attempt them anymore. i'd rather do a more gradual cleanse with juice fasting.
i am curious, as the others, why the salt? how were you taking the salt-with your water? or as a salt water flush in the morning?

I've read that the proper type of salt (raw) is actually hydrating. That's my guess, too.

If you are drinking lots of water, you need to have some salt intake. It is really bad on the body to just do water.
If you have ever tasted your sweat, it will taste salty.
You need to balance salt with water or you could cause your body to shut down. I have heard of athletes that just did strictly water during triathalons, the ended up nearly going into comas because they didn't make sure that they had sufficient salt for the amount of water they were taking in.
