View Full Version : How do you know your wheat sprouts are ready?

I'm working on sprouting some wheat berries so I can try and make my first loaf of bread. They've been sprouting for almost two days now and have about a quarter inch sprout on them. I guess they just don't look like how I envisioned them to look. I think I thought they would be greener, but the shoots are white.

Is this how they are suppose to look prior to being made into bread? I got my Excalibur the other day and am anxious to make some.

Woo Hoo! Thanks, RW....later this afternoon I'm going to try and make my first loaf of bread. I did rinse them this morning, so I know they now have to sit about 6 hours. My dehydrator will be busy as I'm soaking some flax seeds for crackers as well!

I think I'm going to like this dehydrator!

Jodi,

Taste them, they should have a pleasant, sweet flavor.
