Hey,
It's been going well here - I enjoy reading the posts of others and just had a quick question. I've been entering what I've been eating into fitday.com and was wondering how much protein we are supposed to get in a day? Where do I find how many grams?
Thanks!!
PS - so far 5 lbs lost and am sleeping much better!

"how much protein we are supposed to get in a day"
Ah, you don't know what can of worms you've opened up.:D
Here's a synopsis of what you'll get:
You'll get answers as to just eat raw and your body will instinctively tell you what you need.
You'll hear that the grams of recommended protein are much more than you really need.
Your body can assimilate raw protein much more than it can traditional protein (as in meat), so you'll need much less.
The period of time when you need the most protein is when you're a baby (and double and triple in size) and even mother's milk doesn't have the amount of protein that is recommended. So if you don't need that much as growing baby, you certainly don't need it now.
Actually, most of this is true, but it's one of those topics that always brings up a lot of discussion. I'm sure others will add on.

I'd add on, but Raw Joy's pretty much summed it up. Remember that our ancestors who lived mainly on gathering wild plants ate very little meat...meaning, of course, that their diets were very low in animal protein. And they did just fine.

Raw Joy's right, this type of question is one that recieves a plethora of different responces. Everyone is different. If you feel like you need to have an exact amount and count of how much protein you get then that is fine.
if, on the other hand, you feel comfortable with trusting yourself to know how your body feels and whatnot, then that'll work, too. this is where i am at, so i can't give you any info on amounts and such, but im sure someone will give some sort of info regarding that.

If you really have a concern about protein and just want to ease your mind, one the the easiest ways is to get raw hemp seeds or powder (I believe Alissa sells these) and add a couple of tablespoons or so to a smoothie.
Hemp is very high in protein and I've heard that raw weight builders rely on this source quite a bit.
Hope this helps.
Have a RAW day!

Thanks!
I found a few sites online that talked about us actually only needing around 30 grams of protein a day and how messed up the American diet is especially when it comes to protein. I'll try to pick up some hemp - are there really high protein sources that are raw?
yay day 14!

I don't count calories, measure food amounts, micro-manage my diet, or any of that stuff. I don't even weigh myself. I just eat what my body wants as long as its vegan, raw, natural, and fresh.
