I will be watching this thread because my front two teeth have enamel issues due to my addiction to lemons and limes when I was younger. I could get veneers or lumineers but I found out per tooth it is $1100!!!!!
I might try oil pulling because I have heard it helps teeth health but not sure if it will help enamel issues.

It could be staining of the teeth.

I started using the magnesium oil a little while before I noticed my 2 cavities healed. I use that stuff for more then just teeth too, it's an amazing product! I'm starting to wonder if diet really has much to do with healing teeth because my last 2 cavities healed while I was fasting! Of course I was drinking liquids like marine phytoplankton, ormus gold, magnesium oil, cacao, medicinal mushrooms & herbs :D

Is your toothbrush made with natural bristles or is it plastic? I could never go back to using plastic after I saw & felt the difference a natural bristle brush makes. And they are way cheaper, like 2 bucks!

RawVeganmom,
How bad were your teeth and cavities when you started using this stuff? I have really bad teeth, lots of cavities (I was homeless for about 2 years and wasn't able to take care of my teeth the way i would have liked).
I was wondering if this could help me?

I think a cavity is a cavity no matter the size. If a small one can heal so can a large one. Mine were not large but they were at the top and under my gums a bit on my front 2 teeth and they were black & I could feel the holes when running my tongue over them.

Thank you! That is what I need to know! I would rather pay $25.00 for tooth soap to heal my teeth, rather than $15,000 to have root canals and everything else the dentist says I need.
I suppose that we would never hear about anything like this from the dentist, because they wouldn't have a practice anymore if they told us.
I am ordering tomorrow, along with a natural brush!!!
Thanks for the tip!!!

Sooo expensive, but yes, probably worth it.
My daughter has only 3 good teeth in her mouth...the rest were cavities. Unfortunately I took her to get crowns/fillings. I'm scared to death of what are in them but I didn't know what else to do/don't know what to do now about it either. Anyone? I mean, what's done is done, some of her teeth had to be ground down and aren't even teeth anymore, etc. How can I protect her 3 good ones or fix some of the "bad" ones? These are her baby teeth so hopefully her adult teeth will be fine.
I worry a lot about this, though. I just don't know what to do about her mouth and the possible mercury that's now in there, too.
She's 4. They told me the reason her teeth rotted was from breastfeeding at night.

Use a soft brush and rinse with a fluoride. Do not eat or drink after using the fluoride so maybe do it before bed.

nope not true. not true at all.
my son had the same thing happen. the specialist said that some kids have different bacteria in their mouths... that eat their teeth. it just happens. nothing you can do to stop it, they'll grow out of it. he's 14 now and has perfect healthy gorgeous teeth. not a cavity!!!
and yet he had major work done when he was 3-4 yrs old.

RG, did you have them filled/crowned, too? I feel sooo guilty about it. She still has 3 left that haven't been done, and I thought I'd try magnesium oil. She's currently using tooth powder. The dentists said this would affect her permanent teeth if I didnt' take care of them. I'm scared :( She's already been under laughing gas 2 times and some other thing the last time. It's way too much for both of us to deal with.

I did the opposite and my teeth healed finally. I stopped using flouride and now use a hard brush. From what I have read I would never use flouride again, too dangerous and actually bad for teeth.

hey ginger--you said you healed your cavities using the magnesium oil and toothsoap...heres what im wondering-- my understanding is that cavities are "rot" in the teeth. i dont really understand how the teeth can "heal the "rot"" out of them.... I mean, i hope its true because i have a couple of deep cavities Id love to heal, but I just dont see how it makes sense. i wonder also if its all the other superstuff you were on (ormus gold, etc).... if the magnesium oil remineralizes your teeth do you think theres a danger of it remineralizing OVER the cavities and leaving the "rot" underneath? argh.
thanks

All I know is what happened to me.. my teeth did not mineralise over the rot, they are totally perfect and healed. Like it was never even there. I think part of the reason it was so quick is because I was fasting too.

i know that i've stopped using anything but a natural bristle tooth brush on my teeth. my gums and teeth feel amazing!!!! i barely ever feel 'build up' on them now.
about once every two weeks... i brush with celtic sea salt. other than that... water baby water!
Interesting posts, Ginger.
I mentioned a little about the issues surrounding flouride, in a recent post elsewhere on this forum ( http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=38637 ), but I think many people have a hard time believing that governments would be complicit in such a scandalous situation, something which is, perhaps, a little naive. I'm glad you have posted more on the topic as the more people are made aware of the issue, the more empowered they are to avoid over-exposure.
Incidentally, despite my belief that the product used to brush one's teeth is of lesser importance than protective factors in the saliva (I had 100% perfect teeth for over 30years, prior to switching to a raw diet, and throughout those 30+ years, my perfect dental health was maintained by commercial toothpaste - mostly Mentadent P), I do nonetheless use Toothsoap in the morning, followed by sea salt. I was pleased to see you acknowledge the importance of salivary protective factors in your video, BTW, and this demonstrates that you've actually done some proper research on the topic - I know you will know what I mean by this (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=39417) ;)

I have the same problems when I was raw 2 times, and problems started after approx 6 month on being raw, the enamel was practically chipping off also from my front teeths and also from other teeth especially where teeth meets gums
that is the reason I stopped eating raw diet, now I drink smoothies all the time so I am about 50 50 I think.
I think that teeth are reacting to acidic fruit, tha you eat all the time, and enamel just chiops off. I mean most of the fruits I like are acidic like oranges, pineapple, kivi, I never drank lemon at all.
I was really dissapointed because I failed 2 times. I really dont know how to continue. People were saying eat more green smoothies but will that really help. What os there beside oranges and kivi and pineapple. THose are most popular fruits in Europe where I live.
I am really sad because I did not want to take ill effect on my teeth. Basically I would have to have all my teeth covered with fake porcelain.
My front teth had small holes, tiny holes and the dentist just drilled them away with laser. But eventually the holes would beciome deeper and deeper.
SO I stopped:(
Regarding fluoride I never use toothpaste with fluoride, I even used baking soda powder and that woman that is promoting that tooth soap, I think her teeth are fake, she must have veneers if you ask me.
I posted that on her youtube and she deleted it right away

Hey Ginger.
I spotted this site after a quick google search for repairing tooth enamel, and your post has me intrigued as I was also thinking about fasting for a while too, just for a general "clear out".
Just wondering if you could shed some more light on the fasting method you used? (how long you fasted for, what you eat/drank, etc...).
Woohoo, my first post :D

After 3 months on a raw food diet (lots of green, many glasses of kale-cucumber-celery juice) my dental hygenist said my teeth had gotten stronger and whiter. All the fresh, whole vitamins and minerals in my diet are making a difference.
This week I started oil swishing in the morning with sunflower oil, followed by brushing with sun-dried celtic sea salt and baking soda, (I grind it together in the magic bullet and store it in a jar.) Doing my regular toothpaste/floss routine at night, (taking one step at a time). My teeth already look denser, whiter than last week, and I'm feeling less sensitivity at the roots. I'll give it a few weeks, then make a judgement on whether to keep it up.

Hi all, I was just wondering, is the magnesium oil mentioned just liquid magnesium or magnesium oil spray. Ginger, mentions drinking it so I wasn't sure...
Also, where can I purchase a respectable brand of it, I went to Whole Foods and told me magnesium oil doesn't exist =/

Prescription for perfect teeth:
Daily brushing with tooth soap (any soap with no/low glycerin content)
Daily flossing
Oil pulling - daily or as needed
Drinking green juices
Chewing grasses (like wheatgrass)

Do you nibble on the insides of your mouth? I have done that for a while and the little grinding between the teeth that happens every time has worn my two front teeth so that they are actually sharp, and a little "see-through." And little bits have chipped off too. Horrible habit.
I've had flouride put on my teeth for years. I have beautiful teeth. I also have been squeezing lemons and drinking the juice for years...sometimes 3 or 4 per day. I also use listerene. Every new dental hygenist wants to know how I keep my teeth so well. I tell them, they don't believe me.

It is largely genetic.
I have 9 siblings one of which is a non genetic sibling.
Only one of us has good strong teeth and yes, you correctly guessed which one.
The thing that I most object to is that she is also the one who takes the least care of her teeth and has the worst diet.

Saline solution is a bacteriacide so the salt kills bacteria when you rinse with it after brushing. I do so for a couple of minutes but am not sure what the optimum time is for keeping the salty water in your mouth.

I wish you were right. My youngest sister spent a lot of money trying to save her teeth and still failed. Why do you feel that there can not be a genetic aspect to this.

I don't dispute that there may be some contribution of genetics to the equation, but I do not consider it to be "largely genetic". Genetics have been blamed for a million and one human health conditions, this past 10 years. It's become the default scapegoat for any health condition one cannot find an easy (or economically profitable) explanation or solution for. Both laypeople and powerful economic forces share responsibility for this scapegoating tendency, albeit for different reasons. Genetic engineering and manipulation is a 'brave new world', and the more the public can be brainwashed into believing genetics is the cause and the answer to whatever ails them, the more trillions of dollars the genetics giants stand to make from satisfying the public's demand for treatment. That may sound a bit like a 'conspiracy theory' but all one needs to do is look at what has already occurred in the agricultural industry, with the likes of Monsanto, particularly in the US. Anyway, I digress...
There are MANY factors relating to poor dental health, other than genetics. It has nothing to do with how much money a person throws at trying to save their teeth, either. It has to do with oral pathology, dietary nutrient intake, parasite infection, metabolic factors (e.g. are there problems with metabolic function, leading to, for example, derangement of mineral transport, as may occur in cases of mercury intoxication), mother's dietary nutrient intake during gestation of the child/person (this may have very far-reaching implications for a persons longterm dental health), flouridation of dental care products and water supplies (disrupts adenosine diphosphatase, as outlined by the late G.F. Judd). And many, many more factors...
Even on just the dietary side of things, there is a misguided assumption by people following a raw foods diet that their diet is as perfect as perfect could be, but the truth is that many people on a raw foods diet have gaping deficiencies in their nutrient intake. This can have a massive impact upon dental health. This is an uncomforatble truth which many raw foodists are either ignorant of, or are in profuse denial about. An average, not-especially-healthy, not-especially-unhealthy, diet may also very frequently be deficient in certain nutrients critical for dental health.
Also, exessive fructose consumption can lead to disruption in the appropriate levels of calcium and phosphorous in the bloodstream, which again has an enormously detrimental effect upon dental health, and you might be surprised how little fructose intake is sufficient to cause such problems.
Don't take any of this personally. I'm not getting at you, I just take issue with genetics being blamed without more deeply examining the many, many, many other potential contributory factors to good or poor dental health.
