I had my Green Star for a while now, but in one thread I asked if making nut butter would go better in the food processor or Green Star, at least one or more reply said the Green Star was terrible for anything other than juice. Well I made quite a bit of ice cream and it works GREAT for that, so they were wrong on that one.
For some reason, I believed it about the nut butter and have been making my nut butters still in the food processor which is a real nightmare (you constantly have to stop for it too cool down, process, stop, and it can easily take over half an hour of cooling and processing over and over, if you don't allow cool downs, it will be cooked to death by the time it's butter, my food processor gets full of steam and fog when making nut butters if I don't let it cool down enough and the butter gets very hot!).
Today I felt like giving the Green Star a try, and let me tell you right now, I'm NEVER using the food processor for nut butters ever again, this thing makes instant nut butter without wasting half an hour on cool down periods! I must say I did use the bread stick blank and bread stick guide which gives better results for nut butters (It was one of the reasons I got the 3000 model rather than the 2000, the vendor I got it from, 2-life, said it makes better nut butters with the bread stick guide, and it really does!). What the bread stick guide is is a cone shaped tube (on the inside) that screws where the pressure adjusting knob normally is, it compresses the food by forcing it through the cone shape and it comes out in a 1/4" or so stick, I beleive this makes all the difference, I think it comes out more like powder if you don't have thebread stick guide, so this is probably why some people said it worked bad. With the bread stick guide, the powder is compressed into a perfect nut butter!
It goes WAY faster than using the food processor as it's instantly turned into butter rather than taking nearly 30 minutes. It's also barely harder to clean than a food processor after making nut butter. I hope it works as well for tahini!
