Can anyone please give me some suggestions? I have been having acid reflux for the last month and tonight I've had the worst case of it yet. I'm trying to make some changes to my diet, I'm sure, from what I'm reading I did not have a good dinner tonight. I do not have any health insurance and am trying to avoid the Dr. Please help.:(

I had trouble with reflux that went away when I started to take a vegan digestive enzyme capsule with each meal. It could have been a coincidence, but it seemed to help. Good Luck!!!

What are you eating? Do you stop eating before you get stuffed (that was a big contributor to heart burn for me). Can you elevate the head of your bed at night - that helps with reflux. Let us know what you are eating. Raw food, in small amounts, stopping 2 hours before bed, raising the head of the bed, etc. all helped me with mine. Good luck to you.

I've read that if you take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar right before you eat it will help. Of course, use raw organic apple cider like Braggs. Here's a good website to help with it http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/acid_reflux.html

I also had reflux but it's gone since I've gone raw. It went away after 2 weeks of raw. But I try not to eat before bed time also. I slept with two pillows under my head sometimes and that helped in times past. Even now I have to be careful of too many spicy foods. Keep track of what you eat and the things that bother you try to stay away from. I just developed a bleeding ulcer due to eating too many grapefruits and oranges. So even though we eat raw we need to listen to what our bodies tell us if we start feeling bad, listen to it.

How do you manage to do this??? When I had a cold recently, a chiropractor who goes to my church told me taking apple cider vinegar every day would not only help with the cold, but was generally healthy. I tried it, but couldn't stomach it. I guess I'm a wimp.....:o
I even tried to dilute it with water and agave...still couldn't stand it.

I have heartburn really bad. I cut back on a lot of what I was eating and I am not eating ANYTHING at all for a few days now and I think it's really bad, has a lot to do with my fears of a lot of foods and my previous case of anorexia. I'm going to see a counselor but I think that I will try the RAW food smoothies to see if I can get some proper nutrition that way to help it naturally. I have read that the apple cider vinegar helps a lot of people. You have to dilute it and brush you teeth with baking soda & rinse afterwards or it'll EAT your enamel off your teeth. It's in health food stores cheap, around 5 dollars or less. I've heard that slippery elm & aloe juice & licorice with DGL to chew after or before eating I'm not sure though look it up, also VERY cheap usually. I've also heard of taking probiotics/enzymes before/after meals which of course makes sense because alot of people don't have enough enzymes to help digestion. Sometimes your heartburn is caused by particular foods you are eating. Have you been tested for Celiac disease? It's common in people of European descent I've heard, but occurs A LOT more often than people think so quit eating bread products, the yeast in breads aren't good for you anyhow. Raising the bed, which I did was kind of hard to do because I had to re arrange MY back so that it didn't strain my back/neck while sleeping. Kind of hard to do. I'm sitting here trying to think what else is good for heartburn that anyone else hasn't already mentioned. Well, I can't think of anything at the moment but there is a lot of information there so good luck with it and I know it's hard. It's really got me down right now. I'm kind of depressed with it and quitting eating anything made me worse, which I hope to start eating healthier once I get my mind to it. I'm inspired though by all this healthier foods in the RAW diet. I'm wishing that I'd always known about the RAW foods though becuz I used to eat my vegs/fruits faithfully until I started working and eating out/on the run/going out with friends. Bad habits. Of course STARBUCKS. No more starbucks for me. Now, since the heartburn. Even tap water has been hard for me to swallow. I switched to distilled water. It's been easier to drink. Because tap water is acidic and will aggravate your symptoms more like mine. I have heartburn so bad that immediately after drink/eat something it'll cause the lump in my throat. So irritating and well making my throat hurt at the base FOR HOURS. Hopefully we can get relief for this problem which is really a problem with our eating habits.
