I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have always loved hot and spicy food. The hotter, the better. Since starting raw again, this time I have noticed a sensitivity to hot and spicy. It burns my mouth, not the pleasant slightly tingling sensation, I mean burn. Last night we had spicy raw fajitas for dinner and just had some cayenne sprinkled on it the other spice was cumin. It literally blistered my mouth, the inside of my lips and tongue. This is not a new batch of cayenne, it is one I have been using for awhile. I can't even tolerate the sprinkle in the lemon, honey, water drink from the Master Cleanse. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Boy, I sure hope its a temporary thing.

Nope haven't noticed this, I'm a spicy lover too. So, hopefully it's a temporary thing...

The opposite has been true for me. I used to not be able to tolerate spicy foods very well, but now I enjoy spice more.

I really like cayenne pepper but I notice since being raw, I get bad hiccups if I have anything with cayenne. I thought I might have some kind of allergy to it. No master cleanse drinks for me. :(

In the last few weeks I'm been wanting things spicier & spicier. I'm particularly fond of cayenne! I'm so sorry you had such a reaction:eek: ouch- I haven't heard of that before in regards to going raw. Hopefully it's temporary!

Thank you for all your replies. I sure hope it is temporary cause I love hot and spicy. Anyone else have similar problems with other foods since going raw?

Not with spicy foods, which I love by the way, but lately with nuts. I get all congested and find myself coughing a bit after them, the way someone would after eating dairy. What's that all about? I almost never eat them, but once in a while they are a great treat. Hummmmm. Hope things return to normal soon, for both of us!;)

I only use organic cayenne pepper. I find that the regular stuff isn't as spicy.

Rhazula, what you said about organic cayenne made me think. The cayenne I have is not organic and that may be the problem. I am going to buy some organic cayenne and see if it makes a difference. Thanks!
