I had built spotter bars out of industrial grade copper piping for my bench press to allow me to workout 'til failure (as workouts should be done for best results), they worked great for years, yesterday I noticed they were getting dangerously weak, but still trustable. After just one set today, they bent significantly more, as their structural strenght is vanishing exponentially with each use these past days. They lasted many years but since the damage gets exponentially worst over time, most of the damage was done in the past few weeks, with the most damage being done today.
Here's what they look like after today's set (I was planning on doing several sets, but after seeing the damage caused by today's set I no longer trust my life to them):

I was going to buy new piping today to rebuild the damaged part, but we're having a huge snow storm so I'll go tomorrow.
