Hello from the United Kingdom, UK or Great Britain, I prefer the UK.

I am a 40-year-old male from the UK, who is unsatisfied with the poor quality food I find available in the shops (and green grocers). Currently I am overweight by about 3 1/2 stone. I find some raw foods boring, some I don't even like. But my initial search on the Internet has inspired me to try using raw food in a different way. I don’t know whether I’ll be a total raw foodie, but I am willing to try some of the lovely recipes I have seen so far, and to investigate an alternative to the mush so many people think is normal food.

I have only just become interested in eating raw food. Currently I have purchased a Geo seed-sprouter, although this is a little too big. One of the first products I came across was agave nectar; it says it is low GI. This fact is excellent news for my stepmother, as she has just become diabetic type 2. The particular brand I have purchased tastes like Golden Syrup, fabo!

I have repeated most of this post in the Raw & Living Food discussions.

Aloha and Welcome to RFT!!! RAWk on!! Its always great to see more and more people finding the raw food LIFEstyle!!

Alissa's book has some FANTASTIC recipes! Have you been able to order her book and DVD yet? There are alot of very simple yet delicious recipes -- that take LITERALLY MINUTES to prepare! Plus she addresses a lot of questions that come up as you are researching this LIFEstyle... its a great tool to have!

also -
check out MattyLee's Blog - she has a lot of amazing recipes that she shares! When she first went raw - she had to be very creative as her budget was limited and she didn't have a lot of the fancy kitchen gadgets!

great to have you on board!! RAWk on and ... enjoy the ride....

blessings on your journey!

Hey there!

What part of the UK you in? I live in the Northumberland area. I am pretty new to the Raw Foods thing myself. I have been struggling, but working pretty hard to stay on it.

If you are any where near me, and would like some help, or offer of support, let me know!

Hi Peter, welcome to the group!!:D Your post is great, it reminds me so much of my hubby & I. Sick of the junk most folks call food. But yet, not finding some of the raw options that appetizing either! But it can work, we've done it for 7 months so far. Best wishes!!
