I have a general question about uncooked meat. Like raw tuna, salmon. Why are things items not allowed on the raw diet? They are technically raw and uncooked. This is just a curiousity question.

They are completely allowed in the raw diet, just not on this board. They will probably delete this thread before I can even reply.

By the way, no fish or seafood is any longer safe for human consumption, so sadly they should be avoided completely. Research has found them to be loaded with deadly levels of mercury, radioative waste, PCBs, etc.

Fish is dead. This is a live vegan food board so it might be deleted from here but there are other boards which support raw (but not vegan). Natalia Rose and Carole Alt include raw dairy and Natalia book includes cooked fish.

I hope it isn't deleted. Someone else may have the same question that I do, and it is important that it is answered. I know I can't be the only person that was wondering.

It does completely make sense that it isn't allowed because of the live food. And it is good to know the difference.

Thanks all!

You need to read the mission statement for this forum. You're on a vegan board. And you wouldn't be eating a live food now, would you? You'd be eating a dead fish albeit raw. I'm not going to eat something loaded with mercury and tapeworms.

*Clears throat* For the record, posts aren't ALWAYS immediately deleted. Sometimes we DO take the time to give some sort of reasoning for why or why not...just depends.

But as it's been stated, raw fish is "allowed" on a raw diet depending on the TYPE of raw diet one is doing. Some do what is called the Paleo diet (where they eat raw meat, dairy and eggs or one of the three) and some choose to do raw vegan or raw vegetarian where it's strictly plant-based or perhaps honey may be used as well.

THIS particular forum happens to be a raw vegan/vegetarian forum so no, we do not get into raw meat or dairy discussions here. We do try to allow posts like these to remain for future reference of others who may come along wondering the same, but at times we have a member or two here who happens to eat raw meat and they'll want to advocate it and argue it's benefits and that's usually when we pull it or close it up because that's not what this forum is about and that's not what Alissa teaches or allows on her forum. So, as long as no one comes along and starts trying to advocate raw meat in this thread, it can stay...that's the rules of this forum...we do not advocate eating raw meat or dairy on this forum.

Thanks!

Like I stated in the question, it is just a curiousity question. I haven't eaten meat for a few months, of any kind. I was just curious about that raw fish thing. And I thought that someone else might have the same question.

But I really do get the issue about it being dead. So, I am really glad that you are going to leave this on here for people who might have the same question as me.

Thanks all for your comments!!

Hi Rawkinlocs
Great explanation! I think even threads like this one are helpful for us newbies... lets us think about the reasons why!

My experience with being a newbie is that as I detox from starting this raw food diet I sometimes have brain fog and can't think it through so easily. And yet the answers when someone else says them click in... if you know what I mean. :)

Thanks for Keeping This Thread Long Enuf for Me to Read It!
