I tasted it. It was horrid! Did I get a bad batch? Maybe it would have tasted better if I was eating raw????

It's not something to eat straight out of the bag. It would be like eating straight coffee beans or straight Hershey's Baking Cocoa...nasty by itself but GREAT in recipes! So, whip up some RP Brownies and have at it!
RP's Brownies
=========
1 cup walnuts (unsoaked)
1 cup dates (pitted unsoaked)
1/4 cup cocoa powder (you may use carob if you like)
Place in food processor, and blend until well blended; should still be dry and chunky, appx 30 seconds. Press into a small springform pan. Refrigerate until you can insert a knife and it isn't too sticky.
Cut into little pieces, then place in plastic baggies and freeze.
They can be eaten fresh from the fridge or from the freezer.
Also, do a search in our recipe section for "chocolate" as we have many more recipes using raw cacao.

I bought my first batch of raw cacao nibs yesterday and I'm not impressed. It didn't taste very good and I had a headache after eating them. :mad:

The nibs are rather bitter by themselves...stir in some agave or honey and then chew them. Or add them to raw ice cream. Really good stuff.

haha! Reminds me of when I got my first bag of nibs thinking they'd be similar to chocolate chips/flakes
I tore open the bag and popped some in my mouth and--
BLECH! :eek: So bitter! I was so disappointed! hehe
But then I started using it in sweet recipes and all was good in my cacao world :D

Just to let people know, I eat them straight. The first time I tried it they were disgusting, but for some reason I kept coming back to them. Then I began to like them, especially the oily release they gave out. Then I sort of got addicted to them, and Im hooked.
Im eating a 100g bag a day from detoxyourworld, for 3 pounds 60 pence british money per bag.
Its like eating a packet of crisps, except its cacao beans.
