Hi all.
I live in Ontario Canada and would be very interested in meeting with a group of raw vegans to share food, recipes, experiences, wisdom on our journey. I often travel to Toronto on the weekends to shop at HFSs and to eat at LIVE the only raw food restaurant I know of in the area. The food there is wonderful and inspiring.
If anyone is from the Brampton area or even a larger area, I would love to hear from you.
All the best,
Michele

Wow, how exciting. You are not far. Let's see if we can get a few more people in the area responding after the work day/over the weekend and I would really enjoy starting a group! I am quite new to this and completely comitted but am finding it most difficult to deal with getting together with people and not eating their food. They don't seem to understand and I ended up eating a piece of cooked vegan chocolate cake just to not offend, I didn't enjoy it (kindof good to see that raw cake is more flavourful I guess) but felt it would be rude not to accept his hospitality. Of course the person felt he had done such a good job of finding "health" food for me!
Anyway, how nice to start a group of like minded people.
I look forward to meeting you,
Michele

I'm going to be in Toronto in a couple of weeks with my family,
and I've been wanting to eat at LIVE for ages.
So if you want to meet up,I'm game.
Any other southern Ontarian folk interested in a raw support group/meetup?:)

Hi,
I live in Toronto. Would definitely enjoy meeting up. I've been to LIVE a few times and it is really yummy.
I just got back from an entire week of hanging out with other people who are raw....it is so helpful to meet with others who are doing the same thing as you, makes it feel less lonely :)

I'm in if all of you want to arrange a time to get together at LIVE. Weekends are best for me.
How about everyone else?

I live just north of Newmarket, Ontario. I go to Raw Food classes in Newmarket. One Saturday of every month. As a matter of fact I'm going to a class this Monday. 1 on 1 class I've asked for - for extra help. I'm really serious about doing this. For me I know this is what really works. I have alot of issues to deal with . Diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. But as far as the classes go I love them and Judy runs it and she's wonderful. The next class is on the 26th of April. If anyones interested I could give you specifics - just ask. Suzy

I would be very interested in attending these classes. I work in York Region so Newmarket is not too far for me. Maybe we could share a smaller class now and then as well and share the costs (if we have similar learning needs).
Let me know and thanks for the information!

Hi, I'm in Waterloo, Ontario. I just wanted to mention that there is another totally awesome raw restaurant in Ontario. In Guelph, it is called "Wild Organic Way". You can find the address and phone # here: http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=6518
I try to go there every few weeks. The owners are sweethearts, all the food is organic and mostly local. Plus the deserts rival those of New York and California based raw restaurants. Not to be missed! :)
Best of luck on your journey!

Thanks for the information on WOW, the live restaurant in Guelph. I was born in Guelph and still have relatives there and nearby. I will definitely visit this one and have added my email to their events list.
Well...it looks like there are enough of us interested in meeting up that we could call ourselves a group! How exciting!
How would everyone like to organize this? We could meet at alternating raw restaurants initially, so one person wouldn't always have the longest commute. Once we got to know each other...perhaps we could have monthly raw potlucks at varying houses. What do people think? Other ideas? How many are interested in being part of such a meet-up group? I know that Toronto Sprouts has Paul Nison speaking next Wed. April 9th and my husband and I are attending--maybe these types of events would be nice to attend as a group--raw food snacks are available for purchase at this event as well.
How does an initial meeting at WOW sound for this Saturday April 5th in the evening? If this is too soon for those of you with social lives, we could do it next Saturday April 12th.
Let's do this thing!!
I'm also excited as there is going to be a new raw food restaurant opening on Dundas Street Toronto called Rawlicious. I have been watching the blog (you can find it if you google RawketScience) and it is really looking like a nice place. It was supposed to be open at the end of March but is not quite finished yet--that would be fun too!!
Lots of ideas---as I see it there are 7 of us as follows:
Margi—Hamilton (Greenville, near Dundas, raw foods group meets in the spring and summer)
PixieLed—Waterloo (loves WOW in Guelph)
Vivafree2—Toronto (St. Lawrence Market Area) (goes to live often—looks forward to a meet-up)
Vivid Lilty (Suzy)—North of Newmarket (takes raw classes in Newmarket—one Sat of every month—does some private classes—April 26th with Judy is the next group class
Rawberri (Dara)—Toronto (goes to Live) would like to meet-up
Tepiglet—St. Catherines--visits family in Toronto (would like to eat at Live)—interested in a raw food meet-up
and myself and my husband makes 8!!

As I have not heard back that anyone can make it to WOW this Saturday, perhaps we will see some of you Wednesday evening at Paul Nison's presentation at Toronto Sprouts. My husband and I will be there. If you plan to attend, let them know as numbers are limited. I believe the cost is $30.00 per person and you can pay at the door. They also have raw snacks/food for sale to eat that evening.
Hope to meet some of you then.
I am also still open for a WOW meet-up Saturday April 12th. Respond if you are interested.
Happy weekend!

Suzy..I am very interested in May's class on dehydrating. We could attend together for a lower cost--my husband may also be interested in attending--would that lower the cost again?

Oh shoot!
Sorry,I haven't been on Rawfoodtalk for awhile,
and didn't realise that a meetup was in the works.
Wish I could be there on the 12th,but I can't make it on such short notice.
The classes sound like fun,but it's a bit of a drive from my neck of the woods,
and we're a one car family-but it's a possibility.
Maybe we could organise a Rawfoodtalk meetup/support for Southern Ontarians, sometime in the near future-and try to co-ordinate it with everyone's schedules and locals.
Meaning, sometimes we could get together in the GTA,and other times in the
Hamilton area etc.,so that if some people couldn't make it to one get together
due to distance, timing and such-they could make it to another meetup.
I can help to organise.
But I was thinking that maybe we should post this in the main discussion area
of this board,so more people will see it.
Not everyone reads the 'Who are you' section.
What do y'all think?
I think it could be a lot of fun.
Feel free to e-mail me with any suggestions or ideas.
My name is Holly,btw.
