Hi all rawfoodists. I'm a newbe here but have been reading the raw forum for five months. I started raw the first of October. I weighed 148lbs at five feet six inches. I weighed myself today and I'm 112lbs. I'll give a little history first. The reason I started raw was because I had mild pains in my right breast and could feel something in there. I didn't go to the doctor but I have known for years that eating a raw diet would cure tumors and cancer. I no longer get the pain sensations and no longer feel anything in my breast. I decided to do a drastic change from from SAD to Raw eating. For the most part I have been healthy except for having Edemetriosis when I was 21 and had my left ovary and fallopian tube removed. After that had two children. Three weeks ago I caught the flu and I was eating alot of grapefruit and oranges. My stomach started bothering me but I thought it was the flu. I thougt I'd speed up the flu process by doing a salt water flush, boy big mistake. I started to bleed. It must of been a bleeding ulcer. I did not go to the Dr but made some beet/carrot juice right away because it can help build blood quickly. But I was pretty weak and next morning very nauseous. So looked up information on my symptoms and probably have a peptic ulcer bleeding. The salt water flush must of opened it up. I know that is very serious but wanted to do what I could on my end before the last resort of going to a Dr or hospital.
I researched how to heal a peptic ulcer and it suggested cabbage juice and aloe vera. So my husband juiced for me every day for two weeks and finally the pain is gone. My stomach is still tender and I'm still weak. The bleeding only lasted a few days and I was glad of that. But I feel good other than that. I'm still drinking the cabbabe juice and aloe vera. I only drank juices for the first week of healing the ulcer but now am eating again. But my husband is very concerned with my weight loss. I'm getting comments from my friends but I know they are concerned about me as is my husband. I know some of you will ask what I eat so here goes. Before getting sick I ate a green smoothie in the morning which included kale, spinach, ginger, bannana, half a cucumber, stick of celery. Ate some fruit midmorning, vegetable plate for lunch with almonds. Fruit for an afternoon snack with a few nuts. Then a big salad with vegetables cut up in it for supper. I usually had an avocado in my salad. Then a banana before bed. But now I havn't ate very many nuts because my stomach is still sensitive. Staying away from all acid fruits until I heal completely. But does anyone have any suggestions on gaining weight in my condition. I sure don't want to go back to eating cooked to put weight on. I have Allissa's book and dvd and reread it. Just want to know if anyone out their has a similar situation and what they are doing or have done. Thanks

According to Kay Kordich (the king of juicing) the best veggies to juice for ulcers are cabbage and potatoes. Here is a recipe of his for ulcers:

1/2 tomato
1 (4 inch) wedge of green cabbage
2 stalks of celery
Makes 8 oz.

Also this one:
1 (1 inch) slice of potato
4 carrots
1 apple
Handful of parsley
Makes 8 oz.

Can you handle dates? They are high in calories.

It sounds like (from what I can tell) you're eating a pretty healthy mix. What about lifting weights to bulk up just a bit?

Another thought is to maybe have just more calories of what you're eating. Bananas are not super high in calories but super gentle to the stomach. The banana and avocado pudding is a good higher-calorie mix that is gentle but may be a good snack to add in regularly.

I have a history of ulcers too, and when I had a flare up juiced a ton of cabbage also. It's so helpful, so it's great you're doing that...

I wish you the best of luck!

Consume a varity of greens for their powerful, bio-active amino acids. The protein should help. You can juice them, make salads, smoothies or green soups.

Thanks for the reply Belledona, I don't have any dates in the house but need to go to the health food store.

Eva, thanks for the reply. I am eating a bannana/avocado pudding every day because of my ulcer. It is so good.

Stina, thanks for the reply.
I was exercising before I got the flu and bleeding ulcer. But decided to wait to exercise as soon as the tenderness goes away in my stomache.

Ooh can you share your banana/avo recipe? Or are you just mashing up the two and eating as is? Thanks in advance

Zig Zag, I just mashed mine up together, so yummy and when the stomache is tender is soothing to it.
