Hey, they started stocking raw cacao butter at the austin wfm this week.. $22

I've never tried it. Think I will pick some up this Fri. :)

What are you guys using it in?

Do you use it like coconut butter?

I made a chocolate/orange torte with it today with a chocolate ganache topping. Coconut butter/oil tastes like coconut and cacao butter tastes like chocolate...both will thicken but cacao butter will not melt at room temp like coconut butter.

oooh I bet that is very good!! I never thought that you would need to melt it. Well that stands to reason. Thanks for that necessary tip! lol - or perhaps you can blend chunks of it with other ingredients? ... I'll have to get out the recipe books. actually, my raw recipe books are old school, so dunno if they mention cacao butter at all.

I haven't gone for groceries yet so I don't have the bag in front of me to check the ounces, but what I saw on the shelf came in a compressed looking (4 inch/guessing) round brick or cake if you will... in a clear bag.

Can cacao butter just be blended in Vitamix instead of melting or is it way too hard on the blender?

i don't own a vitamix, but i am sure it would have no problem with cacao butter...it's way yummy in fruit smoothies :D

oooh I'm so jealous- I live in the 'meat and potatoes' section of the US where Whole Foods and Trader Joes are non-existant and words like "vegan" are likely to get you committed...
have fun with your goodies!

oh well, as long as you can find good produce in your area - um, or better yet - in your garden! that's most important. simple is best imo.

you could always order something special online.
