So I just want to tell you all about my uncle who passed away last year.....he has always had a beautiful garden. He does conposting and really keeps his soil nice. He has tons of fruits and vegetables and is always sharing them with his friends, neighbors and the widows in his area. There is only he and his wife at home and his garden is larger than his back yard, so you can see that he HAS to share the harvest. NOW THE THING I REALLY WANTED TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE ABOUT HIS GARDEN.....I think this is such a fun idea and I didn't realize he did this until many mentioned it at his funeral. Not only did he love the wonderful food in his garden but he would sprinkle rows and patches of flowers in his vegetable garden. He and his wife went on a walk every day and he would cut flowers from his garden and take them to the neighbors and many of the widows that lived in their area. He brought soooo many people joy from his garden. So, why do I tell you this....because this year I'm going to plant some flowers in my vegetable garden and feed both my body and spirit. Love, Judith

Awww Judith, Your Uncle is smiling down on you for this one!:p

There was an old farmer where I grew up and he had the most beautiful flower and veggie garden for many years. Then came the day when he could no longer manage planting and taking care of his garden....so the neighbors took over and did everything the way he did it. Then when it was time for harvest, they would bring him flowers for his home and veggies and some fruit to feed his soul. He would sit in his rocker in front of his big sunny window and smile with pride at what his neighbors were doing in his garden. Well, last year Mr. Noel passed away at age 98 and as a tribute to him all of the neighbors planted his garden for one last time and made signs that said.......THANK YOU FRANK FOR 50 YEARS OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AND FRESH PRODUCE. WE LOVE YOU! You see.....Mr. Noel (Frank) gave away most of his flowers and produce to the area families who had no gardens. I can still see him out there in his farmer bibs, hoeing and harvesting on his hands and knees with this very content look on his face:p I miss Him!

What a nice experience. Isn't it wonderful to hear good things at a funeral about your loved ones and how they touched other peoples lives? What we do in a postive way every day can effect someone to the good. People even if they don't thank you, will remember the good you do for them. I remember my aunt and her brother always had big gardens with flowers in them. When my parents went to visit them, I always enjoyed walking through the gardens and looking at the vegetables and flowers growing. My parents always had a large garden too. Every spring I get the urge to plant something. It's something how the things you learn when young stay with yoy when you get older.
