Hi.
Most people, when you're vegetarian, vegan, or raw, ask about protein consumption. That does not worry me because I've been vegetarian for so long and I know all about protein. My concern is calcium. As a young mom of twins, I know how important calcium is. While I'm about 75% raw right now, I am drinking milk, soy milk, or eating some cottage cheese. How does a 100% raw person get enough calcium.
I know that spinach and broccoli have calcium. But I can not live on those two items all day.
Thanks.
Debbie

at the bottom of this page you can see a big list with the calcium content of foods.

Any of your green leafy veggies contain calcium and you don't have to live on them all day ;). As long as you get them in. I put spinach and/or kale in my smoothies. Some of your nuts and seeds (especially sesame seeds) have calcium. Just remember this, the cow that we get calcium from gets HER calcium from eating green grass (well, at least the ones that aren't factory-farmed that is  )
There are too many delicious ways to eat greens to sweat it: collard wraps, marinated greens, salads, putting greens in your smoothies, green juices (disguised with apples to make it sweet and palettable), etc.
And, I truly believe, as minute as the amounts may be...our fruits and veggies all contain calcium and every other nutrient we need...just some more than others. OH...don't forget sprouts! They're high in calcium as well from what I've read.
You don't need animal products (dairy and otherwise) to get what you need for your body, please believe that.

I drink a lot of sesame milk. It's very easy to make. Just soak 2 cups of sesame seeds overnight. Put them in the blender with 3-4 cups of water, depending on how rich you like it. Blend 'till smooth. Then strain out the grains. Yum.

Mmmm...sounds good. I know I like the taste of tahini in my smoothies so I may have to try this!

Thank you. That was very helpful. And I will try the seasame milk. I made almond milk last night and poured it over raw oats last night and had my "oatmeal" for breakfast this morning.
I am very pleased to have found this website. None of you seem to be so radical in this lifestyle and you are all very, very supportive. I've never been so relaxed trying to eat mainly raw foods. (this is my second time)
But I do have tons of questions. I'm sure I'll be posting very soon.
Have a good day.
Debbie
