I am during my third month being raw... Since starting, I was raw vegan foodist, but recently, I found an article about raw model Carol Alt, when she describes her way of going raw while eating raw fish and unpasteurazed milk products... Under this article influence, I tried salmon sashimi, just a few pieces...felt very lethargic next day, and bloated... somehow I tried it once more, no drastic difference...but no energy that I felt before as well...Now I am hooked up... At least twice a week I feel huge cravings for raw fish...and I go and eat 4-8 pieces, and then I am fine. Then I feel guilty, and I know I didn't suppose to do this... PLEASE advice...

Hi there!
Raw Food Talk is a vegan/vegetarian-based forum so we do not get into discussions about raw meat, dairy or eggs (honey has been and is the only exception). You can try searching for paleo-raw diet forums for answers about that. Sorry...thanks!

I don't think I am interested to switch from raw vegan diet... I am just trying to get an opinion, what is going on with me... Why I am suddenly have this wild urges to eat raw fish, after I was vegan for 2 months? Maybe I am lacking something in my diet?

Oh okay...well, sometimes cravings occur as a result of lacking something but most often cravings come (especially after eating a particular thing) when your body is trying to detox from it. I remember reading quite a bit about when you fast, the strong cravings for cooked food, for example, come when your body is cleaning/ridding itself of past things you've eaten on a deeper level so the desire for it comes back up in the form of a craving for it.
This could be what is going on because I'm assuming from your first post that you didn't acquire these cravings until after you read Carol's book and tried out the raw fish and not before, correct? So, that's probably what is going on. It's just like if I consume cooked food, I continue to crave cooked food until I allow my body to fully and totally rid/cleanse itself from all remnants of that cooked food...otherwise, if I were to keep "feeding" that craving with cooked food, then I'd continue to crave cooked food more and more and more. Probably the same case with you and this raw fish. You ate it, felt poorly afterwards. Then ate again and now you're craving it. If you continue to eat it, you'll probably continue to crave it...but if you release it and allow your body to totally rid itself from it, then the cravings will eventually leave after a while.

Sorry to be gross, but keep in mind that eating raw fish gives you a higher propensity to parasites  and parasites LOVE to feed on raw fish. So if you picked up a few nasty little buggers, its possible that is what is driving your cravings.... and that may have been what caused the yucky feeling the first day.
The reason I say this is my colon hydrotherapist was explaining to me why many people get hooked on sashimi, and why she says to stay away from it. (I'm vegan anyway, but this is general advice she gives). I'm sure you can search for parasites and raw fish on google to learn more.
There are cleanses you can do for your digestion that can get rid of parasites, or better yet- stop giving them what they want, and eat lots of green fibers to cleanse the system.

Raw meat is full of bacteria, yes, but attributing the cravings to parasites may not be the situation in this case. Could be, but don't stress about that:p The thing is, once you eat meat, you develop a taste for it and crave it. When I was making grass-fed beef for a while after being a vegetarian for about a year, I started to crave it.... Before that, cravings for meat were relatively non-existent. If you want to stop craving it, stop eating it.
You may be feeling bloated because your body isn't used to eating it... Or you may be eating it too fast and not chewing it well enough! Remember, meat is devoid of fiber and enzymes..
...Which lead me to be next point. What I don't get is when raw foodists incorporate RAW meat. If you are going to be eat meat, mine as well eat some cooked meat, which is atleast more sanitary. Meat is meat- it's DEAD! Unlike our LIVE raw vegetables and fruits which are full of ENZYMES, meat is meat... We're not animals equal to animals, contrary to what some like to believe... We have evolved. Our teeth were not designed to eat RAW meat! Hope that helps a bit?
