View Full Version : Purple Soaked Cashews

I put some out to soak overnight. I checked on them this morning, but I didn't scrutinize them. Now I go to process them and I see some are purple in areas and others looks dirty. Did they get all moldy all of a sudden? Do I just toss them out, or do cashews do this when soaked?

I think cashews are not supposed to be soaked longer than 6 hours...can't remember why. Were they raw? Most cashews that you find, even at health food stores are not raw.

In my "old" days of cooking, I would make a dish in the cast iron pan with cashews. The iron reacted with them to turn them purple. It was a fun twist to serve to people!
