I think I need to cut down on the amount of fruit I eat. I know obviously fruit is healthy, but I don't think eating the amount I do at the moment (about half my daily calories are from fruit, especially dried fruit) suits me very well.

Since going raw last year I have experienced a lot of benefits but I have also gained 20 lbs, going from 105 to 125 lbs and I feel really fat. I know from experience that it is sugar that makes me gain weight, fats are much less of an issue.

Therefore I would like to cut down on my sugar intake by lowering the amount of fruit, agave, honey, etc. I eat. I have a really sweet tooth so I will need replacements. I was thinking of making lower sugar things using stevia - does anyone have any good recipes that will help me with me sweet tooth?

Hey there Subbacultcha. You know I had the same issue come up a couple of months ago. I was eating mostly fruit all day long and wasn't feeling that great. Roughly 75% fruit / 25% greens. I've flip flopped this now 90% greens / 10% fruit. What actually helped me was to not eat sweets too much for a week or so and then I went on a long fast. Alissa's Mock Salmon pate actually helped me get over the hump too...something about the texture and flavor of the red pepper satisified my pallet. I don't really have any substitute sweet suggestions. What worked for me personally was to just eat more greens, flax crackers, avocados, more grounding foods with an an occasional banana, apple, orange etc. This really helped me shift gears you know?

Similar to if you have a dependency on sodium, the more you lesson it in your diet the more apt your going to be at noticing it in food. The same thing happened to me with sweets. I cannot handle too much agave or any other sweet ingredient now, it's just too much. I usually cut sweet ingredients in half now in recipes...like dates and other foods.

My greens/fruit % consumption will probably change again, but for now I feel really balanced and I'm losing inches every day. :D

Just my thoughts....

Good luck!

You're right, I really need to up my greens, I was being really good with them for a while but slipped out of it.

I will definately try all of that!

I have found that the more greens I eat the less I'm always looking for a sweet treat.
