Before I started eating raw i did a lot of binging... i used to not eat for a week and then suddenly just eat everything around me.
i've been raw for about 2 weeks now and i love it, i really do, i love all the food and don't usually crave anything that's not raw. and for the most part, during the week i go through it eating regular portions and getting all my fruits and veggies reasonably. problem is, on fridays (or this week, it was tonight) i step into the kitchen and cook for my family. and this is when my binging starts :S. i can't help but taste (and by taste i mean have at least 3 spoonfuls) of everything i'm making, and every trip to the fridge i grab 3 cherry tomatoes, every trip to the pantry i grab a handful of pecan nuts or dried fruit, and then grapes are sitting there on the counter, and everytime i walk by them i grab at least 5. now singly, these things are very healthy, but when i think of the TOTAL amount that i've eaten tonight, it's ridiculous.
plus once dinner is ready, although i'm no longer hungry, i feel i have to eat with my family, and afterwards i clean up and it starts all over again!
it's strange though because usually, since i've been eating raw, i feel satisfied at the end of a meal and don't really munch much in between so i don't understand why when i'm in the kitchen i just have this uncontrollable urge to eat EVERYTHING around me. and ok, i guess i should give myself credit that it's all raw but still, eating a crazy amount of ANY food is just not healthy.
and once i leave the kitchen i realize how stupid i've been, but it's like once i step across that line back into the kitchen i become a whole different person and i lose my head!
ok just putting this into words has helped me understand what i have to do and where my problem lies, but i'd appreciate suggestions or support from anyone! :)

Eating RAW......you can GRAZE all day. You can eat when you are Hungry and as much as your Body feels it need without guilt.

spicyfull- i know i can eat without guilt, and whenever, but my problem is i eat even when i'm NOT hungry, even when i'm completely FULL! but my hands keep grabbing for food, and at that point i know my body doesn't need it, so i know it can't be healthy for me!

iamacranberry- that's a great idea! i actually just bought some really interestingly flavoured tea the other day, and haven't tried it yet- plus the time when i get down and start preparing dinner is actually the perfect time for tea!
thanks so much for both of your support... a few binging accidents today as well, but tomorrow i'm back in school, back in a routine, and hopefully this as well will get me back on track

Being aware of what you're doing is great...instead of just acting mindlessly.
The tea is a great idea...it changes your routine, substitutes one action for another.....and YES...you should give yourself a LOT of credit for it all being raw.

I have this going on too! What really helps me when cooking for my family is carrots. Takes awhile to chew them. i leave a few in my cooking area always avail for a mindless pick up and chew while working full throttle on dinner.Helps.
