I just bought medjool dates- omigosh, they are so good, I really have to watch myself around them!! I know we are supposed to listen to our body and eat what we want, but are too many dates bad? (I can't get past the sweet thing, thinking "sugar" is bad)

Personally, I think yuo should listen to that little voice telling you that too many sweets pose a threat. I know some will disagree, but keeping your sugar intake- regardless of the source- to a low is optimal. This is generally speaking, ofcourse, since some have proven that fruitarianism works for them, but honestly, if you eat too much sugar you're going to send your blood sugar levels out of wack, and excess sugar is also host for bacterial growth and weight gain. Sugar is a drug, even when provided by nature... it's addictive, as you've noticed:p All drugs have their side effects....
Anyway, that's just a bit of personal food for thought. Pigging out on dates is way better than pigging out on cupcakes or what not! So go ahead, enjoy them... Just maybe don't make it a habit if you find you can't control your intake?

Or break up??? :D

Dates are a wonderful choice! Fruit is our natural food! Our bodies and brains run on glucose, the best source of glucose is raw fruits.
Fruit will help you stay full and satisfied and will enhance your enjoyment of raw foods. Fruit is naturally delicious, self contained and easy to eat. It is truly natures perfect food. Our physiology clearly points to the fact that we are meant to thrive on lots of fruits. There is a reason why we are all born with a sweet tooth! You can listen to and trust your body!
Please don't be concerned about "too much sugar". There is absolutely no such thing as long as it comes from fresh, raw fruits. I eat lots of dates and thrive on a fruit based diet. Enjoy all the fruit you want! There is no reason to deny yourself, really! Life can be sweet and lovely and enjoyable.
Blessings,

Enjoy the dates for as long as your body is enjoying them. I find that I kind of rotate through food "cravings". One week it'll be tomatoes, the next month avocados, the week after that green smoothies,....you get the idea. Ooh, and I have a tendency to go on some SERIOUS chocolate kicks. Do I deprive myself no, (I did try that once, not to long ago, with HORRIBLE results, felt like I was on a diet again!). So if it's dates right now, let it be dates. Your body will cue you in to when it's had enough and move you on to the next thing.:D

I agree with Shine72--your body will tell you when it has had enough dates, and you'll find something else irresistible!
Have fun--don't restrict yourself!

I went through a period that medjool dates tasted just like carmel....loved them. Isn't it funny that we will wonder if we're eating too many dates but don't think twice about eating a couple candy bars.

chilove really nailed it....fruit truly is the optimal food....especially ripe, fresh, raw and organic....
it is important to not mix sweet fruit with fat....that is where blood sugar issues may occur...
zz.....raw honey is not vegan....and it is highly processed...if you want sweet...eat banana....mango.....grapes....figs.....cherimoya.. ..watermelon....

I agree that your body will eventually tire of them.
I have gone through this many times with different foods.
Often when people are wanting to eat so many dates I think it is because it is a heavier, concentrated food and it gives them a sense of fullness they aren't getting from other foods. Don't worry about it. It will pass. You will NOT live off dates forever.
Enjoy it!
