I really need to detox the 10-odd years of disgusting stuff in my body, but I can't do juice fasting or Master Cleanses or anything like that as I'm still minor and under the jurisdiction of my parents. What can I eat that will help the detox? What should I avoid that might slow or hinder it?

THANK YOU, lots of hugs :)

I would say focus on lots of fruits and greens, greens, greens! Avoid the heavier, denser items like nut heavy stuff.

Also, I have heard lots of positive stuff about Liquid Zeolite. It pulls out toxins and heavy metals from your body. Gabriel Cousens even did a little study on it with great results. Check it out. I am using it now after having a dental revision.

Fruits are cleansing (detoxifying) and greens are building. Nuts, seeds and oils will slow down detoxification. They ARE good for you, if raw, soaked and sprouted, but they are grounding. So, if I wanted to speed up detoxification (which can be very UNPLEASANT, I might add) I would do all fruit.

Good luck on your detoxification quest!

Aw, that's awesome! You know, if it hadn't been for leap day (I was born in '92) I would have been born on April 1st! Hehe. Happy almost-birthday!

To everyone else,

Thank you! Are there any specific fruits?

I would agree with what Walnutty said, completely... except that I wouldn't advise doing all fruit... You need a bit of grounding. Eating solely fruit could mess with your blood sugar levels, produce fatigue, inhibit satiation, and.... you need to give your body nutrients WHILE you are cleansing!!! Moreover, as sugar aids in the growth of bacteria (and thus is an inadvisable addition to ones diet when they are sick with the cold/flu), I'd suggest not overdoing it on your sugar intake. Still, my suggestion is definately to up the dosage of fruit and vegetables. And sprouts, which brim with enzymes.. and a decent source of protein. One great way to get in your fruits and vegetables in a cleansing way is juicing!!!!! juice a couple of times a day and you will flood your body with antioxidants and cleansing properties. Fruits and vegetables in general are full of antioxidants, no need to worry about which ones possess more leverage than the other and so forth. But nevertheless, berries are renowned for their high antioxidant content, particularly blueberries, which are also less sugary than strawberries. I would recommend blending a bit of blueberries everynight and/or morning with a bit of aloe vera gel, and water, if you like. Apples are very cleansing, and a good source of fiber, though personally I prefer pears as they are more digestable. And ofcourse, greens, greens and more greens are wonderful for clearing out the system, in so many ways:D

Hi there,

I don't much time to post, but juicy fruits seconded by fruits of all kinds are definitely the most cleansing of all foods.

Blessings,

Opinion:

-In the beginning, simply time...lots of greens....and eating a wide variety of fresh, unprocessed plant foods will really help you get to YOUR goals. Give yourself the time that YOU need to make changes for a lifetime. Later, you can utilize light fasting, juice fasting, fresh fruit, exercise, sunlight, fresh air, and other detox cleansing methods....IF you are VERY comfortable. :)

Oh yes.. just to add... sweating is very detoxifying. If you can, maybe try to exercise to the point of sweating a couple of times a week, and maybe find a sauna/bath house somewhere? Or let your shower run hot and sit at the edge of the bathtub, letting the steam envelop you. Back in the days when I went to a doctor, I always asked for NON-medicative ways to heal various illnesses and what not, and this was one of the suggestions... Not that that means much ha. I also find the sunlight to be VERY healing (in moderation, ofcourse).

i'd still recommend juicing, obviously not fasting/feasting. personally, a tall glass of green juice feels more cleansing to my body than most anything else i could eat/drink.

The raw food diet IS a cleansing diet. Don't be in such a hurry....your body will naturally cleanse when it has the strength and is ready to start letting go. Alot of people don't need to go through major detox because their body slowly does it so you don't have to suffer through detox symptoms.

I think that grapes are supposed to be very cleansing. Or figs. One of the two, because in RFRW I know there's a fig and grape cleansing shake!

Grapefruit works wonders for me. Right now I am drinking a blend of ruby red GF and navel orange with ice water (just throw together in your blender, easy). It's a good way to start your morning and feels cleansing to me. And of course....this juice + the rest of the day a nutritious diet of greens, nuts and seeds to make sure you aren't deficient. And adding exercise where you really sweat...it's a great compliment to cleansing foods! :)

Beets really get things moving hah. If you juice it be sure to mix it with something else and you might get a bit of a high or dizzy feeling so drink slow. If you dont want to juice it, I have already made a beet based soup. I just blended beets with their greens and other vegetables of choice in the blender and heated slightly. Topped with some seasalt and pepper it was delish.

don't forget tons of water for getting everything out! in that line, sweating also is beneficial for releasing toxins.

Pau D Arco tea with Cat's Claw is supposed to speed up detoxification. Esp good if you have candida and are trying to clean fungus out of your body.

So, I'm on day 13, and have gone through lots of detox (grouchy, funny spots, a hot sore ear for a day, terrible joint pain...) but I'm happy if it means progress! Can I summarize all the methods I know of cleansing? Then, if someone will please add to my list other things I've missed, I'd sure appreciate it!
:)
100% Raw (of course!)
Oil pulling (my chiropractor recommended it way before I found raw)
Moderate exercise
Lots of water
Skin brushing
Epsom salts baths
Extra sleep
Fresh air

I'm anxious to see lots of positive changes from raw and I'm guessing the cleaner my body is, the faster I'll see changes. Am I right? I'm looking for increased joy, energy, strength and beauty!
