I am trying to eat a rainbow everyday with also some white foods and gold as well
currently I can find plenty of red, orange, yellow, and green, foods but have a hard time figuring out some blues, violet, purple, whites, and gold. I did get a great deal on blueberries today that I am excited about:D but I need more then blueberries

can someone please assist me by listing suggestions of blues, violet, purple, whites and gold. I would really appreciate it.
thanks

For white, I would suggest jicama. Are you looking for the inside or just the skin to be that color? Eggplant could be a purple or a white, depending on what you're going for. Gold--how bout an Asian pear? Purple/white could be radish/rutabega/turnip too. That's all I can think of at the moment.

Daikon root is white. A health food market nearby uses it sliced very thinly in raw recipes, like collard wraps. When I got my young coconuts from the Asian store they had really good prices on daikon root, so you could try a place like that.

Love the suggestion for eggplant & radishes!

Blues:

Blue: Any of the lighter shade berries.
Purple: Plums
Whites: As mentioned, roots like radish or Jicima. Also Bananas give you your yellow & white! As do apples. Think the INSIDE of the fruit!
Gold: Try papaya...or pineapple.

Til this thread was posted I never realized just how much color raw foods have. Beautiful to look at and beautiful to eat. :)

so when we try and do the rainbow you go by the color on the inside and the color on the outside?

i think you could go either way. if you want greens and have cucs and zuccs then i say it eat the outside. but if your wanting whites then eat the inside. i think the main idea behind eating the rainbow ( at least from what i read in cousins book a year or two ago ) is that you also eat certain foods at certain times of day ( you follow the order or the rainbow ) and certain colors have certain elements that react with your body at the right times of days. like blue and purple pigments are good for brain function so at that time of day your supposed to eat them your brain needs "food". or if your supposed to eat white foods, they tend to be really cleansing ( insides of cucs or onions ) so at the time of day to eat those your body is open to cleansing. i'm pretty sure its the ayervedic system that it follows. but it's like at night when your body goes through the phases of cleaning different organs while you sleep at certain times. it does the same thing during the day, so its good to be in tune with those body parts.

Although of course its also good just to eat the rainbow to get lots of different colored foods in your system. more color = more nutrients. i was lucky to be blessed with a dad who taught me that before i was 10!
