It's been a week now. Is it detox? I don't know that I can stand it much longer. I hope it's detox so that I can at least think of it as a good thing. Any ideas? Thx!

Yes, this is detox. Think of the headache as a result of toxins being released out of your system, when your body becomes clean, you should no longer experience headaches, unless your body is telling you you need to switch something in your diet. (like maybe too many nuts will give someone a headache). Just stick through it. That is great that you have been raw for an entire week!
Detox is not easy, but we all had to go through it. Keep on truckin' and you'll be happy you did.
Best wishes on your RAW journey. ;)

do you see a chiropractor? sometimes a headache is your body being out of alignment... everything we experience is not always detox after all.

I agree, you could need an adjustment. BUT if it IS just detox you could possibly speed up the process with some enemas.

Thank goodness - I thought it was just me. I have been RAW for a week now also and have the worst headache I have ever had - to the point where I am throwing up. I don't know what to do, it is very hard to concentrate on anything, let alone work. How long do these usually last - I feel for you too

FWIW- I got headaches from stopping coffee when I went raw. Lasted 4 days and never came back.

I'm a fan of enemas, I could try that.
I never was a coffee drinker, but yes, am/was a total chocolate addict! Perhaps it's letting go of that.
Thanks for the tips. I am terrified of chiropractors...just the pop noise from a knuckle is enough to make me cringe. But maybe a nice massage could work :)

What will the enemas do?

Headache yes everytime I go back to SAD for 3 or more days. It is from sugar. It only lasts a day. My husband gets a BIG BIG BAD detox headache, he is down for days, throws up fever. Then it tapers off and lasts about 2 more days. but after we feel great.... Healthy

Ok, I cracked and took a Tylenol - the headache was so bad I was vomiting in my garbage at work - does this mean I have to go through the detox process all over again?

for sure, detox. I don't think taking Tylenol once is going to put you back to square one...plus, sometimes relieving the pain helps the body relax so it can heal...just don't do it again, missy! (just kidding).
It might be a good idea also to get your neck alignment checked, not by a "crack 'em" chiropractor! Find a network chiro, or upper cervical specific...there are some that do gentle, soft tissue release only. Ask around, maybe local health food store, yellow pages, etc. I'm a craniosacral therapist and realign spines with soft tissue work all the time. It can really help.

Listen, I won't put up with pain. With severe pain, it's Advil for me.

My trick to get rid of a headache is to:
a} drink LOTS of water! (aids in detox, & often headaches are connected to lack of hydration!) &
b} Run your hands, or even hands & feet (sitting on the edge of the tub) under hot water, then cold water, then hot, alternating, keeping it there for 1-2 minutes each time....draws all the throbbing blood to your extremities rather than your head!! it really works, but sometimes takes a few minutes of doing it, then another 5 minutes or so to kick in...
Also, you could cover your eyes, or better yet, lay in the dark with a cold cloth, deep breathing, blocking all light...& stay off the 'puter as much as possible!!!
I'm praying for you both to find some relief, ASAP!

Finally - I woke up this morning with no headache and am now back on track. I did eat a bit of cooked food for dinner last night, but am on the straight and narrow again. Raene - how are you feeling? The Tylenol worked for me......thank you all for your prayers

Sorry, this is a bit late, the internet in the whole country was flat. If you can stand this: a terrific remedy for headache is a teaspoon ground (raw) chili pepper (cayenne) in a glass of water. You may have to repeat it once more. You will sleep like a baby....
And yes, enemas can do the job if you are too scared about the cayenne...

Hi,
I get migraines when my blood sugar is too low. Typically this happens if I change my diet, meal times, don't eat or especially if I exercise and don't eat. First I get a warning where my vision goes blurry and I can't stand even looking at the computer. I can usually prevent further symptoms by eating something sugary. I find that dried pineapple or plain raisins works really well. I always keep an emergency supply. I usually need atleast 1/3 cup or maybe more if the visual problems are still there after 20 minutes.
