I would like board to give me their opinion on the taste of coconut butters
Some people want to use coconut butter and want a mild taste....but i want to use it like a spread....so.... i want the most intense fresh taste of coconut avilable. Which of these 4 brands has the most intense fresh coconut taste?
1. Nutiva
2. Tropical Traditions
3. Alissa's brand
4.Wilderness Family Naturals
Or.... if you have another brand to tell me about...i would appreciate it.
I am sure all these are good....but i am going for the flavor first....i would appreciate your opinion.
Thanks

I'm sorry I can't give a comparison, I've only tried tropical traditions. Their coconut oil is fantastic! I like both their unrefined and the refined. The flavor isn't overwhelming but you can taste and small coconut. Very fresh.
Oh, and you may want to ask Alissa who processes her coconut oil. She probably has one of the other companies you mentioned package it for her.

What's worked for me for a couple of years is the coconut oil at:
http://www.coconutoil-online.com
I've smelled, but not tried because they seemed rancid to me, other brands so I can't compare the taste. This definitely has a coconut taste, even when added as an ingredient to a shake or 'cookie'.
This coconut oil is centrifuged in an ISO certified facility (equals CLEAN AND FRESH), certified organic, unrefined, etc--as is the Virgin Oil De Coco-Crème. I can buy it there in larger sizes too which is convenient for me. They're shipping is more than reasonable too.
'til later,

Unless I'm missing something, I sure don't think Alissa has a coconut butter. She does carry the Virgin Oil De Coco-Crème which is what I buy locally myself.
I can't really give you any advice since I've never used coconut oil/butter as a spread -- or anything other than almond butter or dips as a spread since I've been raw -- but I'm interesting in knowing how you'd eat it.

I've eaten it on bread/ crackers before, doesn't take much and it's much easier if the coconut butter is refrigerated. Drizzled with a little honey.
The past few days I've also been putting just a drop in my tea. Delicious!
If anyone had told me a year ago that I would be using coconut oil as I used to enjoy half 'n' half and butter I would have told them they were crazy. :)

I love the taste of coconut....and like pixiegreen said... if someone had told me i would be using it for anything to eat i would have thought them completely daft. But... i will be using it to spread on things. and... as i will be keeping it in the fridge...it will be solid and spreadable all the time.
And thanks to everyone for their input...i appreciate it.

You might try blended young coconut for a rich coconut flavor?????? (maybe blended with a bit of oil ?)
