good morning,

my friend who's been raw for over a year first started it as a doctor-prescribed approach to alleviate a skin rash she had. her doctor suspected she had some kind of sugar allergy & recommended that she go raw for 6-8 weeks & see what happens. the rash cleared up within that time-frame & she decided to stay raw.

i'm wondering if anyone else started raw in a similar manner, or with a similar purpose of fixing some kind of specific health issue they had.

I was exhausted and sick all the time too and had been dealing with candida for about a year without any relief. When I saw that the doctors were starting to feel helpless, I decided to try raw and it cured it all! I feel amazing now!

I definitely am in this to remedy health problems... the past few years I've been having terrible back aches... to the point of hindering walking some days... and I'm only 33! My sinuses were killing me EVERY DAY... my eyes were sore and dry all the time. And I hate getting sick. Well... I've only been eating a raw diet since the beginning week of Feb. and already my eyes are loads happier... my back to... still have some aches... but they are working out. I'm hoping to heal my thyroid... I've been hypoactive since grade 11. who knows... maybe I'll even be able to heal my ears?!? Besides that I have been living with brain fog, poor memory, big time fatigue, off and on getting sick, etc. I am just sick of being sick. I know that raw will heal me all in time. I have about 40-50 lbs to lose and I've already lost 14.5!!

I became raw because even though I was eating mostly organic and taking quality supplements I was still in the process of falling apart. Depression, overweight, high blood pressure, hot flashes, aches and pains and not to mention just the sight of people my age looking so worn out and aging so quickly:eek: So I decided that I was not going to turn 50 and be that way. I decided that I was going to feel good and do all of the things that my heart desired to do. I must say that I have exceeded my expectations! I never dreamed in my life that I would have more energy now than I did in my 20's. I do not think that a SAD 20 year old could keep up with me on a daily basis now. There is no turning back!:p

Hello,

I started raw to get rid of my cystic acne. Now, my skin is clear, smooth, and baby-soft.

definitely, I basically had no option but to try raw when I couldn't digest anything even on a vegan diet

a host of 'minor' symptoms

chronic indigestion, constipation
hypo/hyperthyroidism
depression, insomnia, etc (which I believe came from thyroid problems)
prediabetes, ulcer, fatty liver... (sounds big but all minor which I believe just came as my health worsened)

All NOTHING that being raw can't cure!!! (trying to maintain a positive outlook) :D

Well, not a specific health problem, but actually a bunch of health problems. I began with debilitating headaches, elevated blood sugar, constant exhaustion, brain fog, body aches and pains from fibromyalgia, and severe, chronic depression. Knock on wood, I now have far fewer head aches, my body does not feel like someone beat me with a stick while I was sleeping, I can wake up in the morning, and I have weaned myself off of antidepressants. I'm not feeling perfect, but the improvements have been amazing. I also feel much better because I have lost 26 pounds so far. I ate "well" before as a whole foods vegetarian, but I still felt very bad until I went raw!

High blood pressure, type II diabetes, chronic fatigue and arthritis.
Gee, I think I am getting old and falling apart. Not anymore, blood sugar is coming down and I actually have days where I feel almost normal. Yeah! Raw. I know it won't fix everything, but I am believing it will fix me. :D

Great to see that your friend had a very clever open minded doctor!!!

Mainly migraines from sinus problems. Runny eyes, constant congestion. Raw helps me ALOT!! I have not been raw that long nor have I been raw for more than 12 days in a row but when I eat cooked, I can tell the difference.
Since I have been eating raw, I have no more migraines, my stuffiness if much improved, and I had a tear duct that was clogged which has since reopened.

I am a very healthy person in general. That being said, starting this Summer I had horrendous sinus headaches and also a lot of weight gain. However, there was something deeer that I ignored. My whole life I have felt this tiredness, just pure exhaustion all the time. The only time I don't feel it is when I am doing yoga or ritual or exercising hard. My mother feels the same way. I have had it so long that I have learned to live with it and not pay it attention, but I am now sick of it...I am hoping that going raw will alleviate this problem. Anyone else ever had this feeling?

I have had that feeling, plus arthritic! Exactly, my whole life too....half the time I would ignore it, the other half I would assume it was normal.

Then I became vegetarian, and as a result ate more dairy, and noticed eventually, that it was dairy! I feel so much better, and if I have some, sure enough, I start to feel like I used to.

As a result of quitting dairy, I ate more grains, and then I noticed grains constipate me, lol....and it's weird, but I think they might make me feel anxious....not sure on that though...but I am done experimenting for now, and going raw again.

It's spring after all! ...ook, well sort of :)

were high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, and so much more from SAD. Since I have been recuperating from a stroke last March I have finally been able to lose over 35 pounds although I haven't weighed myself now for about 2 weeks. I will be getting another blood test on Thursday to see how everything is going now. And all this because of stress!

Watch out for how you respond to the daily and family issues or it might get you in the end! Even though I was eating a SAD diet, eating about 1800 calories a day, and was watching that I did not eat any typical "bad stuff", it was still enough to cause the stroke. I kept gaining weight which then caused me to develop sleep apnea that lead to the stroke! Now, I am desperately trying to remain calm and not try to do/be everything for my family and community. That and changing over to a healthier and meat/dairy free diet, I am hoping to regain my health and be able to walk and drive again. Cortisol is not my favorite hormone! My adrenals are shot and I am taking lots of supplements designed to help them. And I am taking supplements designed to help with that and the blood pressure and cholesterol too.

Northernstars, reading your message made me think of my sister. She was just like you and the stress caused her to have a stroke and she was only 48. She is now partially disabled and pretty much housebound. It helped me make this decision to go raw and hopefully when I go to visit her she can see the difference in me and make those same changes in her life. Stress is definitely a killer, we can all learn a lot from your journey. Keep up the wonderful work you are doing for yourself.

The Standard American Diet created a feeling of loosing control..
Raw gave my life a younger outlook and total control.

come because of their eating patterns and their need to drastically improve what and how they are/were eating. I was making the changeover (when I had the massive stroke) because this way of eating makes so much sense! The stroke just messed thing up a bit more! And, of course the 2 1/2 months of hospital foods didn't help with my new diet choices even though I was able to choose most of my diet. But, with the help of the raw foods I am eating now I am improving so much! So much so that I am already doing much more than was expected!

I have no trouble staying as raw as I choose and for the most part I choose to be nearly 100%. Everytime I start to think about what I am missing, I immediately remember laying in the hospital bed. Suddenly, I no longer desire any of those other foods.

Choices are so important and we all need to make as informed and healthy choices as we are able. Someday, I hope, the world will wake up and choose to make good and healthy choices, too.

I have loads of health challenges, yet the biggest and most recent was a 2 week stretch of migraines (I know Belleadonna and others know how hard they are).

I started 100% raw 15 days ago and haven't had even ONE migraine!

Adensspell: I too felt exhausted ALL of the time. I used to look at people and wonder HOW they do it every day? I sometimes didn't feel like could get through the day, but thought it was somewhat normal. Hmmm...

Depression, anxiety, heart palpatations, major sinusitis and stuffiness, blocked tearducts, bladder issues, weight gain, hair loss, on and on.

Everything is beginning to feel better to me in only 2 weeks of 100% raw.

Northernstars... GREAT that you are working so hard on staying healthy despite your challenges. I know what you mean about motivation to stay raw. When I think of eating something cooked, I think about how I'm totally out-of-commission...sometimes for days...from a 'classic' migraine. Of course nothing compared to your challenges, yet similar in that it keeps me focused and determined!
Wishing you and everyone facing health challenges much success.
I'm a newbie at this, but fully aware of the potential raw foods have to re-create a healthy body.

I am here for Candida. I am not 100% raw yet, nor yet cured of Candida, but this is the best source for delicious recipes without processed sugar/flour.

I also started eating raw to deal with a growth in my breast that began to have pain in it and now it is gone. I've been raw since October. I use to have acid reflux bad and no longer have that. I use to have problems sleeping and now I sleep great and get up first daylight. I feel real good except had a bout with the flu and a bleeding ulcer. I think I was eating too many grapefruits and oranges. But with the help of cabbage juice and aloe vera, I am getting well.

YES!!! I went raw to heal fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, and chronic bladder infections!!! And it worked. Most of my issues were resolved within three months and within a year I was completely healed!!!

GOTTA LOVE RAW!!!!

Our bodies are so amazing. We just have to give them what they need and they will do the rest!`

I went raw to help with my digestion, cause of chronic stress and anxiety disorder I am constantly nauseaous, eating raw really improved my digestion and helped me mentally because I knew what I was putting in my body was good for me and wouldn't make me sick so I could be assured that my nausea was really because of my mind and not my body

high blood pressure
tons of allergies
asthma
thyroid problems
creaky joints
hot flashes

quitting dairy has helped a LOT
quitting grains also
even though i've been doing raw a short time and not 100% i have noticed fantastic improvement.

once my doctor told me i'd have to take thyroid meds forever i got stubborn. we'll see, i thought. i don't like to go to the doctor any more because they just want to give more meds. i want less meds.

Perraw,
Are you 100% raw? Is there one specific thing you did to find relief from your acid relux? Looking for help, thanks.
