When using a salt water solution to clear sinuses, is it absolutely necessary to use a netti pot, or can I use a small old eye drop bottle and put the solution in there and then squirt it up my nose. or, does the netti pot get into places that the squirt of water doesn't?:o Also, how long does it take to start working?:)

I don't think it would work with just a regular squirt bottle. You aren't trying to squirt, you're trying to pour. It's different. I'd buy a netti. It works immediately. Keep in mind, it's a HORRIBLE feeling! It's like you're drowning with water in your nose. But it starts helping immediately. My allergist told me to start doing it 3 times a day for 3 days, then decrease to 2 days, then go down to one. It definitely sped up healing time. Good luck!

Thanks. I'll see about getting one off i.herb. I've been using those decongestant sprays from the chemist and they make me feel worse.:)

Non-iodized sea salt.

You can devise one by using a paper cup with one side pinched to form a spout. You just have to put your salt water in something else and pour a small amount at a time into the cup. If you have too much it's easy to spill it. I also know of people who put the water into their hands and "snort" it up. I don't think this would work for me.

I have a Neti pot and haven't needed it but a couple of times since I gave up the dairy. :)
