What appliance are you using to make your nut butter?
I have a Vita-mix, Cuisinart food processor and Samson juicer, all of which say you can make nut butter in them.
.....just wondering what everybody is using and the pros and cons of each.

Sorry this isn't answering your question, but I was wondering if anyone ever attempted to make nut butter with your average, run-of-the-mill blender???
I'm guessing that with the run of the mill blender, the motor would start smoking pretty badly.

i would not even attempt it with a run of the mill blender. i have a good quality Cuisinart and i have been somewhat successful, it was alot of trouble though--- i just don'teat nut butters that much anymore
I use my samson juicer with the flat thingy in it and mix oil with the ground nuts.:)

I do it in my food processor, but you must allow it to cool maybe 5-10 minutes for evry 1-2 of processing or the friction WILL cook the butter, it can get VERY hot just from the friction of mixing the very, very thick blend.
A normal blender would not work at all, and if it did, the motor would blow in seconds.
I do have a green star juicer but haven't yet tried it for nut butters.

Do you grind your nuts before putting them through the Samson, and stir in some oil before putting them through the Samson, or do you mean that you grind them WITH the Samson and then add oil after?

hahahahaha
I just wiped out my cheap blender with the nut grinding attachment!
It did one batch of almond butter the other day no problems. Then today it started to melt the plastic, and finally the rubber.
Its now in the bin. Lesson 1, don't use cheap blender for nut butter.
I just made another batch in my cuisinart and that was better but never got it thin enough.
Anyone have any ideas?

i've been using my coffee grinder. of course, i have to do it in small batches, but it actually works really well!

I grind them with the Samson. Just a few at a time as putting too many in will jam the works. Then I add a little oil afterwards. The samson even grinds brazil nuts and walnuts.:)

Thanks!
Have you heard of the attachment for the Samson that makes hemp seed oil, sesame and flax oil? I would think it would make oil from walnuts and others too. I am hoping to get this soon:
