This is a reminder to all members who have been here for at least a year and it serves as notice to our newer members.

We need for everyone to understand something here and be very clear on it. Alissa Cohen, author of Living on Live Food, started this raw food forum. Why did she start it? Was it to be just a hang out for raw fooders to come and discuss any and everything pertaining to raw foods be it raw meat and dairy, all styles of the raw food diet, etc.? No, it was created as an offshoot of her book and dvd...it was designed to be a place for people who have her book or people who are curious about raw foods in the manner in which she teaches it to come and get their questions answered, find support, etc.

But many here do not have her book and some have no intention of getting it for one reason or another. But in order to fully understand the concept of eating raw in which she teaches, having the book is a good thing.

There have been some posts that totally go against what she teaches and causes conflict. We all know (or are at least finding out) that there are MANY approaches to eating raw foods. Some say to eat mainly fruit with little-to-no fat; others say to eat less fruit and more greens and fat; others say to eat ONLY fruit; others say to eat raw animal products and the list goes on.

But again, this forum is not meant to discuss any and all approaches to raw...but it is to focus moreso on what is written in the book Living on Live Food. Sometimes those who do not own the book or have never read it tend to end up bringing things up on here that do not follow what is in Alissa's book and so we (moderators) have to step in and guide things to that direction.

So, after a while Alissa had to put together a set of guidelines so those who don't know (because they don't have the book) will at least have an idea of what is expected and what is not tolerated on this forum.

I'm not sure if the rules and mission statement go unread or if they are just ignored or if they are unclear or what, but EVERY person who posts on this forum needs to do two things:

1. Read both the Mission Statement and the Rules and Guidelines and
2. Make a decision whether or not you are willing to comply with those rules and guidelines written. If you are, welcome aboard...if not, then you can and probably should look into a place you'd feel more comfortable being. If something is not clear or if you want to ask something but you're unsure, write one of us mods (Shine72, Bowie, (I don't think Peppermint Patty is really accessible) or myself, Rawkinlocs) or send an email to the Admins at help@rawfoodtalk.com.

We always hear from people how much they love RFT and how pleasant and peaceful it is here and it's like that for a reason. If we were to let things go, then we would not have the place that we have...the place that so many rave about and...the place that people have even complained about, left but continue to either silently visit or just come back to, period.

It's a special place and not everyone likes what we're about here and that's fine...but those of us who have been here for a year or longer have found SOMETHING that keeps us coming back and we want to keep it that way.

Let's ALL work together to keep this place what it is and to not bring a lot of confusion, contention and strife.

Thanks!

Nicely said Rawkinlocs!

Can I also add that I have seen a LOT of post lately asking where people can get certain products and then they post other web sites.

We realize that you can buy raw food products other places as well as buy them at alissacohen.com but I would like to remind people that this is Alissa Cohen’s site that she set up FREE for people to use and it would be nice to support it, and her, buy buying your products from her at alissacohen.com and not using this forum and then going somewhere else and supporting them.

It cost hundreds of dollars each month to run this site and thousands more when it is updated and changed… so it would be nice to help support the site that is helping many of you stay raw and offers you support while raw.

Thanks,
Bowie
