I will complete a 7 day water fast from March 19 to March 26, if anyone cares to join me and support me ;) . This is my first fast. I will be at my house, on vacation from school, so I plan on spending my days skin brushing, tanning, cleansing my colon, sketching, sleeping, bathing, praying, reading, and drinking a lot of water.

Happy spring cleaning everyone!

I think I would love to join you. I have done a a few 5-7 day water fasts, and one ten day water fast. This was months ago however, and I am very much feeling like another fast. I can't get off work (full time office job) but I usually can't take off work, so this isn't much different...

What IS different this time around for me is that I'll be doing it with someone, which will be fun. I think that'll make a big difference. When I first started fasting it was a completely natural reaction to stress and needing to detoxify and I didn't know what was happening; I just stopped eating. Now I am much more educated on the topic and look forward to doing a fast knowing how wonderful it is. :)

I'm DOWN. I hope we can use this thread to encourage one another and to share our experiences with the cleansing.

Alright, Moth! I, too, am very excited to have someone to do it with. I am going on a thirteen day vacation to Japan and China, and I won't be back until March 18. Then we can start fasting together.

I'm going to strongly consider joining you.
However, I'll need to begin my fast on the 20th. My family is planning on having a birthday dinner for me on the 19th.

I'm fasting today, as practice, and I may continue to tomorrow.

I've only had one successful 24 hours of fasting so far, so I'm considering going along with you guys for at least 2 to 3 days. I'd love to go 5, but I'm going to have to see how things go... you know, baby steps.

Mine won't be a water fast, but I was going to start a ten-day "VitaMix" fast tomorrow. Just got the VitaMixit and am planning to do just juice and maybe an occasional green smoothie.

I know it's the not same as your water fast, but I'd love to be here for you all and we could all track our progress and ups and downs.

cool. I'm #5 then. Thanks for letting me join. Let's swap war stories! http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii81/outsideanimage/coverlaugh.gif

I think I will be tinkering w/ the water fast a bit.

1. I'll be downing 1tbsp of acv once or twice a day. I have a serious cold. By tonight, I'll be able to decide whether or not to forego it for the rest of this fast.
2. I'll be oil pulling, but I don't think that will take away from a water fast, since I won't be swallowing.

Hello fellow fasters! I'm glad we can all do this together. I got started a day early by fasting on the plane ride home from China. So now I've been fasting for 30 hours. I had some abdomen pains a few hours ago, but I did a SWF and now I feel much better.
Good luck on the first day, everyone!

Raw Joy and oai - welcome to the thread!

First day of VitaMixing (is that a word :) ) was yesterday. Did well until the evening, when I cracked and had some hot & sour soup from the Chinese place (ooops). But until then:

A few cups of green tea and honey.

About 20 oz of juiced cantelope

Made this absolutely rockin' blend of kiwis, key limes, apple, celery, a bit of honey and a handful of spinach. About 24 oz. I couldn't get enough of this.

Lots of water throughout the day.

I cracked on the soup because I was having chills (detox already?) and it was cold and rainy and DH was ordering Chinese. I just gave in.

Today, am water fasting until this evening when I'll do either juice or a smoothie. So far, so good. If I get to feeling really hungry, I'll do a cup of ACV and honey.

Baby steps. :)

Great job everyone! My fast is going okay. I am more then 24 hours in (I fasted for two days previous to this fast) and I can feel my detox happening. My body feels light and fuzzy but no pains yet besides a small headache.

It seems my most prevelant symptom / reaction isn't physical, but I'm feeling very quiet, very private, very inner, very into myself.

I was off work yesterday, and spent about three hours in bed, in a dark bedroom, listening to the rain. I wasn't tired. I wasn't depressed. I never even dozed off, so it wasn't like I needed the sleep or rest.

Just wanted to be completely alone with myself.

Even though I'm at work today, am still feeling very withdrawn (in a good way).

very interesting.

very interesting.

That's how I feel, too. Even though I've been home alone all day, I haven't wanted to call anyone to talk to. But then again, I haven't had much energy to do anything! It's amazing that people can work and fast.

Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing great on your fasts.
I'm 56 hours in, now. This is the longest I've ever fasted. I'm starting to feel really faint and dizzy. Just getting up to walk to the bathroom is a struggle. I have nausea, too. I hope this gets better! I've heard that the first three days are the worst, so if I can make it through today then I'll be out of the woods.

I just broke my fast. The dizziness and the weakness all got to be too much for me. I'm glad I broke it when I did, as it was hard not to eat everything in the kitchen! If my fast had gone on longer, I may not have had the self-control to break it properly. Anyway, I'm really grateful that I got to fast for 60 hours. Next time, I will fast for longer.
I broke my fast with:
1 banana
3 strawberries
2 tbs. home made saurkraut, for probiotics

I hope you all carry on doing great with your fasting! I'm going to be eating really lightly for the next few days.

It's so wonderful to hear everyone's fasting stories.

I really wish I could have joined you, but on Saturday I started getting severe back pain... what I think is Kidney stones, I'll find out for sure tomorrow... but I didn't think it would be the best time to fast, considering I'm already super weak and tired.

Good luck to those of you who are still fasting! And congrats to those of you who've gone as far as you have!

Happy Spring!

Ooohhh, RawStrength. I was coming on to post that I had also stopped my juice/smoothie/water fast. I did great water fasting yesterday, but ended up eating some cooked veggies last night.

I kind of realized this morning that I hadn't really prepared myself psychologically or physicially for a fast/cleanse. It was just a spur of the moment impulse. And mainly because I wanted to drop 10 pounds really quickly. Just doing it for weight loss is never a good idea.

It wasn't that I was hungry or thinking about food all the time. Just that it didn't feel right. So after my 20 oz of cantelope juice I brought into work, I went to Wild Oats and got a really, really big organic salad and some raw pumpkin seeds to sprinkle on it. Just what I was craving.

Congratulations on your 60 hours! And for knowing when and how to break your fast. You have really accomplished something.

Take care.

Hey everyone! I also broke my fast early. Water fasting is so hardcore; even a few days provides A LOT of detox. I had to stop because I was getting so damn cranky and miserable. Plus the weather where I'm at is still gray, cold and dreary and it just made the overall experience NOT FUN.

I will try again when the sun is a more prominant fixture in the sky! Summer water fasting sounds more approachable.

In the meantime, it's lots of fruit and raw juice.

I agree! I just came back from China, where it is a lot warmer, and the weather here in NE really gave me a shock. Today, I was wearing almost every sweater I owned, plus my winter coat, and I was still cold! I think my biggest mistake was trying to fast while also getting adjusted to 12 hours of jet lag and a huge change in weather  .

Mistakes = opportunities for learning and growth

Congratulations to everyone! We all gave fasting our best shot.

Rawstrength I think it's great you fasted for as long as you did. I have wanted to do a water fast, but I also think it would be too rapid a jump in experiencing detox for me. I will try a genuine "fast" one of these days, but so far the cleanses, like MC and GS fasting seem to gel well with my body. I will try a water fast maybe one year from now when I've done more cleansing and eating raw foods. Hope you had a good time on your trip and enjoy breaking your fast.

Hey guys,

I'm thinking I'll do another water fast the 1st of May. Warm weather means a friendlier fast. I'll post about it as we get closer.

I stepped on the scale this morning, and found that I'd lost 10 pounds in 2 days. And I wasn't even overweight before I started fasting.

Until now, I had never fasted before, and now I'm enjoying even the simplest raw food more than any food ever!
