I am new to this and don't really know where to start so am reading some of the posts.

I am 54 and am about 60 pounds overweight. I have had asthma all my life but have been able to reduce the attcks over the past few years by adding green drinks, juicing and mangosteen to my diet. My husband and I talked this morning about trying to do an all raw diet for a month and see if we can do it.

We have a very busy life between long work hours and church activities. I need something I can prepare in advance and carry with me. We tend to eat out because of time limitations.

My current goal is to see how much weight I can drop in a month eating raw and walking some each day.

I will need all the help I can get from this group so I am ready to get started.

I am ordering Alissa's book.....

Trappedinside,

My husband and I are also doing this together. I would suggest taking raw veggies and dips. Also fruit and nuts, dried fruits, smoothies and juices. Salads are good and if you have a dehydrator, crackers and breads. You can make them up on the weekends or whenever you have days off and use them through the week. I love apples sliced with cashew butter. Put a little cinnamon in the cashew butter and yum. You can do a search of this site for quick and easy recipes to take along and if you don't have Alissa's book, I suggest getting it. It has a lot of fast recipes that are great for taking along. Also do a search for books at Amazon.com, they have a great selection and check out goneraw.com. They have a lot of great recipes there. Experiment and see what the two of you like and go from there. For instance, my husband loves the flax seed crackers and there are a bunch of variations. I don't like them, think it is a texture thing  Soups are quick and easy to take along. Hope that helps and welcome!

Yeah....I'm so glad your getting her book. That's one of the best things you could do for you and your husband. The DVD is great too. She demonstrates several recipes and by watching her you really get a feel of how to prepare raw food vs. cooked food. It also impresses you how fast and quick preparing raw food can be. When you see the recipes in her book you'll have in your mind how to do it because of the DVD's and it will make following her recipes much easier. Your a lucky gal to have you husband on board with you. Good Luck.

Hi everyone and thanks for the posts. Well I got my new dehydrator and new food processor and the saladacco. New toys!! I have Alissa's book and DVD as well as Raw Food Made Easy. We have had tried several recipes an are actually having fun with this. We are getting a lot of questions from church and work on what we are eating and don't you get tired of salad and they are amazed to find that we are having angel hair posta (zucchini) and marinara sauce. Flax crackers with almond butter and sliced banana. Fudgy cookies made from rasins and nuts, fruit leathers with creamy filling and fruit topping......

WOW! It has been more on than off over the past two weeks but now with the right tools and information and this forum... how can we not do this..... I have lost 13 pounds and my husband has lost 10. He wants to take pictures so we can post them like some of you have.

I am shopping at HEB and Whole Foods mostly and have tried enough recipes to be comfortable but have not tried to make the breads. Any help in that area would be great.

Pamparred: Yes, I am very blessed to have a husband that is as excited about this as I am.

Radiantly Raw, I read your blog. Congratulations on the new baby and hope you get past the morning sickness soon. And I agree that this is the way God intended is to eat. We go back to Genesis 1:29.
Genesis 1:29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Thank you all for the posts and support

Will report back soon

You are just set to go then!! Yay!! Everything got so much easier when we got the right tools!! You must be having lots of fun! :D

We had the same reaction from family & friends at church. Even hubby's co-workers eat way more raw now!! Something about it just resonates with people. Like you said, I believe it was the original plan, and I think there's something inside people that knows it sounds right.

Thanks for the congrats!! I look forward to no nausea, but hey, I'll take the good with the bad of course, it's all worth it!!:D

I know how blessed you are to have hubby by your side on this journey, I couldn't have done it without mine! I'm so happy for you both!!:)
