black spots in avocados

someone told me the black spots inside the avocados means it has worms. Is this true? i thought because they got too ripe,not the start of worms. This grosses me out. and i love avo. Help!:eek:

I think it's just where it's overripe or rancid.

i agree with raweater, im pretty sure those are just overripe or rancid spots. if it had worms, wouldn't we seem em in there? i've eaten black spots in avocados before.
