Just wondering how long you guys take to drink your smoothies? I know you should swish each sip around in your mouth to mix it with your saliva. But by doing that it takes me about 2 hours to drink 3/4 of a blender full of smoothie... which makes me worry for my teeth.

Why does it make you worry about your teeth?

I think swishing is a waste of time. You stomach can EASILY digest it. Also, yes, if you have sweet fruit in your smoothie and you swish, I think it might affect your teeth.
I simply take a sip every ten minutes. And if the smooth is really good tasting and you're likely to down it in own big gulp you can slow this down by adding:
cayenne
garlic
...any other strong substance that would making it a challenge to drink fast.
I learned this from David Wolf. I'm no expert, but I'm still learning. Also, try adding less water if possible to aid digestion.

So - Andre - David Wolf recommends you drink your smoothies slowly over a period of a couple of hours? What about oxidation etc? When I first started drinking the smoothies I would take my time as I was getting used to the taste etc. But I was finding that it was making my bowels very rumbly and my eliminations were small amounts every hour or so! (sorry TMI)
I wondered if perhaps it is better to have in a short amount of time, more like a meal instead of strung out over some time...I need to research this more I think. I would love some more opinions on this.

From what I've read in Ann Wigmore's books, it's not so much a swishing as a chewing. "Chew your drink and eat your food" is the motto...
Chewing your smoothie releases the digestive enzymes in saliva.
It's very important. I would worry for your teeth too. I end up just brushing every 3 hrs or so. I don't know...I do worry, but so far so good (knock on wood).

That 'sip' is actually a large gulp. What I actually do is take in the first few cups quite quckly. When I feel my stomach is loaded, I wait. I can feel the contents of the food leaving my stomach into my intestines about 45 minutes or so later and at that point I drink the rest.
Or sometimes I just drink it all at once, lol. :p I don't have those problems you've mentioned.

My teeth HURT if i sit & sip too long, so now, I keep a glass of water with me as I'm drinking it {& add less to the smoothie} & after every swig, I take the tinyest drink of water & swish it over my teeth (you could even have a cup handy to spit it out if you don't want to dilute your digestive juices....)
It ain't perfect, but it works for me....no more tooth pain!
I drink almost a full blender in about 45 minutes, sometimes faster, if i'm really hungry!

I actually prefer mine without the 2 cups water and eat it with a spoon
The blender I use is not very good so I can't get it to a perferct smoothie without overheating it but I think it's better that way because then I chew the minute pieces
As someone mentioned earlier I think 'coating' the food with saliva is important
Since I eat it like a meal it usually takes twenty minutes and less than that if i'm hungry and can't be bothered to chew
