View Full Version : Flu Like Symptoms

Today I woke up and felt like the flu was coming on. I knew that this would happen sooner or later due to years of bad living and prescription and over the counter medication abuse.

I'm so accustomed to popping a pill or some Nyqil (got me high too) to feel better, but I understand now that my body is trying to heal itself and this is acutally a good thing. I've been 100% Raw for three weeks this Sunday (Yay me!)

Do you all recommend anything that I could take or do to alleviate some of the symptoms or do I just ride them out as my body seeks to balance itself. The last time I started to eat heathier, I got a bad case of the flu that sidelined me for at least two weeks.

For me, I'd just ride it out...and it could get worse before you start to feel better. Green juices with a bit of garlic (or ginger). High water content fruits, especially oranges/tangerines. Ginger tea (or goji berry tea) warmed to the touch and steeped. Go with your appetite and how you feel. You could opt for homeopathic remedies if you really feel you should take something. Boiron is a good one to try.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. My symptoms are getting worse, so I think I'll be off my feet this weekend.

ohh :( I'm sorry to read that you are feeling worse. Definitely get as much rest as you can.

...there is a hefty bug going round I've heard of many peeps succumbing, a sort of flu/cold. Hopefully your symptoms are just signs that your body is working on sorting things, but it is possible it could be more.

I really do hope you feel better quick!

wow, that's a great understanding! its so fabulous that you are being so nice to yourself -- as you know, years of supressing symptoms just pushes it deeper, until the body has a chance to work those things OUT, like its doing now (and like it did last time you gave it a break).

rest, water, and kindness to yourself are key. if eating/drinking feels appropriate, fresh squeezed oj and mono meals of grapes or apples are nice. i gargle with apple cider vinegar (2 T in 8oz of water) to make a sore throat feel better.

i hope you are feeling better cc...

I'm sending out * hugs * as well. I've just started raw and I've been experienced some of those symptoms as well.
