It sometimes happens that I don't eat until it's late in the day and then am so hungry (in need of 1500 calories at once) that I actually go to the grocery store to find a not-so-toxic cooked thing to eat since I don't want to prepare anything when I'm so hungry.

I try to keep some pre made things like the coconut meat based bars I posted about but I was out of them (just made more from 2 coconuts), but there are times when I don't have anything pre made.

Is there a very easy and filling recipe (1000+ calories) I could make in 5-10 minutes that's good? Something with nuts, avocado, or lots of seeds to make up the 1000+ calories. I also often workout/lift weights and when I do I can eat up to 7000 calories per day, this is why I want very rich meals of around 1000 calories as with smaller meals I'd spend my days eating.

What about things I can keep pre-made and just grab one when I want? My coconut bars are really good and very filling but I would like other similar "grab and go" recipes.

Thanks

this is a meal that i've been eating constantly the past week. i've been meaning to post it. i got the recipe from goneraw.com ( love that site ) anyway, there's a few modifications... either way it's delicious! it's not so much "grab and go" but very quick and easy. plus it keeps me super full and satisfied without anything dehydrated or any nuts.... the flax provides tons of fiber and is sooo great for "movements" you could say. :) you can grind this stuff up and prepare days ahead of time to have plenty on hand. I just buy the flax already ground at the store ( since the bag says that it's a cold process) and then i grind the hemp in a coffee grinder ( it takes less than 20 seconds ) a bag of good quality hemp seeds is no more than 7 dollars and lasts me at least a week. and i use hemp on everything!! it's so good for brain function, cause of the omega 3s, and it really makes my skin shine.

2-4 T ground flax seed
2-4 T ground Hemp seed
1 banana
1/2 orange sqeezed, or just 2+ T water
-any superfood of your choice ( i use maca, goji powder, camu camu berry, tocotrienals, ground herbs mixtures, coco oil)
-any fruit, fresh or dried, of your choice ( i especially like raisins )
- any sweetner of your choice if you think its necessary. although i find the banana and dried fruit already make it sweet enough

mix flax, hemp, and superfoods together in bowl. if you don't mind the green color this would be a good time to mix any probiotic or grass/herb superfood in. with the sweetness of the rest of the recipe you can't taste it at all. mix well with spoon

add liquid of choice and mash up banana and add in. i like to add in coco oil as well, just because it's so good for speeding up metabolism as well as the omega3s in it as well.

then i top of with any fruit i'd like. i mainly just use goji berries or raisins. but you can use anything in your kitchen you might be needing to eat up. at this point you can drizzle some sweetner on top. i have a HUGE sweet tooth and have yet to need to add any honey or agave... but if you want to then i say go for it.

this ends up tasting just like an oatmeal type dish. it's so yummy. it's very very low on the glycemic index and will keep your blood sugar levels stabilized for awhile.

ENJOY!!!

Thanks, I'll try that soon, I may double it to make it close to 1000 calories.

By the way, flax seeds do rancid (and I believe carcinogenic) very quickly once ground, the pre ground ones are already rancid before they get to the store, and even if they aren't they will shortly after the bag's first opening (assuming it's vacuum sealed, otherwise it's already rancid). I would highly recommend grinding them yourself, as it may be doing more harm than good to consume rancid flax seeds.

oh my gosh i had no clue at all! thanks for letting me know. i will most definitely be grinding my own seeds from now on.

and yeah i forgot about the 1000 calorie part when i decided to put the recipe on here. sorry.

one thing i do is make my own cashew butter thats really good. 1 cup cashews, vanilla, and some OJ or water and blend in a vitamix til creamy. i make chocolate bars and then put the cashew creme on top. i keep the creme in the freezer and it doesn't turn rock hard or anything... melts in my mouth and all. i've never been able to not eat it all within two days... but i'm guessing it would last 3 or 4

Here's a nice grab and go fudge recipe.
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup ground hemp seeds
1 cup raisins or walnuts (or other nut/dried fruit of choice)
1/2 cup maca

Mix all ingredients together and put in a pan in the fridge. I'm not exactly sure how many calories it has, but probably at least 1000. I can eat about 1/4 of a batch a day as one of my meals, but I don't excersize much so I have a pretty small apetite.
I could definitely conceive of eating a whole batch for a meal if I were really hungry.

I have brought maca capsules in my health food store, is this what you are talking about using?

i get the powder off online. but you can open the capsules and mix them in if you'd like. i tend to eat more powder forms of whole foods instead of supplements. just a habit for me, it's all the same yummy goodness though! :D

avocados are so filling for me--I love to just cut one open and sprinkle salt and pepper and spoon it out.It also does not take any time to just chop up some lettuce tomato and onion and mix in an avocado. Also at safeway their premade guacomole(with the gourmet cheeses) is all natural with no preservatives. It comes in a package of 2 plastic sealed bags.

Would be too expensive for me. (sigh)
