I Everyone. I was wondering what is your absolute favorite workout video or videos?
Feeling to fat and embarrased to go to the gym, but well enough to exercise. Too Embarrased to  put on gym shorts. I need something I can do at home.
Walking is not the best idea where I live. I'm too out of shape to run. There are no sidewalks and the crazy drivers may decide that being as large as I am, I could be considered an easy target.
So any recomendations would be appreciated. I haven't exercised in years. I need a program that I can gradually build up my endurance. I need the works, cardio, strength, flexability, and anything else that will make me look fit, firm, and in shape.
So Lets Hear, what is your favorite workout video?
Help me into a beach body. :p:p Thank you.

I like yoga journal's yoga for energy. They also have Yoga for longevity, for strength, and for beginners with i haven't tried, but they are probably just as good. In the for energy, start with just the awakening, releasing, and surrendering sequences (the first one and last two of 5 sections) I usually do all but the creativity (the 3rd and most strenuous section) in the morning before work, due to time constraint, and do the whole thing on weekends. I also go hiking on the weekends - hate gyms too, unless its totally crappy outside and I'm getting really antsy. People don't think yoga is very cardio or strength building if they haven't done much. Actually it is very adaptable whatever your needs are, and has the added benefit of beings spiritual.

also, it's good the have at least a strap, if not a block and bolsters as well. I left my block last time i moved, but only need one for a few poses anymore.

Bellydance!!! Get the Veena and Neena series bellydance workout videos. Or the Dolphina videos.
Bellydance is REALLY fun, a great low impact exercise, and its great for workout beginners. It can be as hard or easy as you make it, but its a lot of fun, so you'll sweat and become graceful all at the same time! Plus it is great in conjunction with yoga and other exercises.
Go to www.amazon.com to get videos. And let me know if you decide to do it- I've been a bellydancer 8 years now and it is a phenomenal way to begin getting in shape. (I started when I was really out of shape, and over time it gave me the stamina and the *confidence* to be able to now really work out pretty hard). Good luck!! :)
Edit- Here is the link to the veena and Neena videos (amazon has them the cheapest): http://www.amazon.com/Bellydance-Fitness-Beginners-Arms-Thighs/dp/B00005N8AL/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1204327488&sr=8-1

I'm taking bellydance lessons from a lady in my town.
It's cool to see another enthusiast,C'estlaviebelle.:)
Did you know that there is a group of vegan bellydancers that have their own
forum?
When I find the link,I'll post it.

You could put on some fast moving music with a great beat and just dance! I've done that and it's as good as going to the gym & working out... maybe better. It really gets the heart pumping, fun too:D

I agree with the yoga suggestion, especially to ease back into exercise. They insist on you're being nice to yourself, celebrating where you are, at the same time you gradually build strrength, endurance, and flexibility, and confidence. From there you'll know what to do. The Yoga Zone DVDs are good, as is anything that Yoga Journal puts out. Mostly, have fun!! :)

I absolutely love Billy Blanks Taebo. That seems to be the only exercise program I can stick to. And he has so many videos out that it's rare to become bored with them.

Ok, I went bargain shopping at a local video store> I came up with two videosfor .99 cents. the first one is Cardio Step Breakthrou by Michelle Doziois and Tracy York, the second video is Classic Step by Kari Anderson and Jay Blahnik.
I did see two bellydancing videos. They were $10.00 each. The instructor was wearing a skirt that covered her legs. I don't recall her name. I felt too self-conscious to take them to the counter to purchase them. The man at the counter always comments on my purchase. I guess I must get up my exercise courage in order to get rid of my excess. Though I love the idea of it being so feminine.
I thought of me and my tubby tummy squirming and wiggling with my kitties lined watching their crazy human try to get fit would give them some evening amusement.

T-tapp...it's not easy to do at first, but not because it's a tough workout or anything, but because it's about poise. You go at your own pace in terms of learning curve, and then build on it. It absolutely is refreshing without a hard cardio, yet you do sweat. And, it helps with posture and all sorts of structural alignment. I've done a lot of workouts, and own an elliptical, bowflex & trampoline. Once you get the hang of it, it's something that is quite enjoyable! The cool part is that you don't need any props. (Ok, a towel for one of the segments, but that's something everyone has...I hope...:D )

this is not a video, I guess it falls under the category game. If you have a Paystation 2, there is a product called yourself fitness. I used this to get started among others, when I was 207 lbs. It gives you a virtual trainer, a fitness assessment, exercise venue options, tailors the exercises according to what equipment you own, and lots of encouragement. You have a lot of control and choice.I really liked this one. Together with Alissa's Live Food Diet and exercise you will be successful. Good luck. Lots of love and light.

If you are very out of shape like me, you could order the stretch dvd here on Alissa's site. I just did. Figure that along with the rebounder, it will get me in shape so that when the snow finally melts, I will be able to get out and walk.

I was watching Fit Tv this morning. They have a program called Shimmy-a beginners bellydancing program, at least I think it's for beginners. It looked like fun. Lot's of hip action! ;)
you guys are really into belly dancing, hu? http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii81/outsideanimage/scratchchin.gif

I have a couple of bellydancing fitness videotapes by a pair of twins named Veena and Neena. They're really a lot of fun and very low-impact.
I have about 50 yoga videotapes and DVDs so I can't really pick a favorite. One of my newest DVDs is Yoga for Stress Relief with Barbara Benagh. It has 20 different yoga routines for various things like insomnia or headache which is really helpful.

I just ordered turbo jam and the Urban Rebounder. They look fun. I love doing the step aerobics and just found two tapes for a dollar by Christy Taylor.
I will probably start off with my old ancient Richard Simmons Tapes and Yoga, then work up to some home weight-lifting tapes. Muscle burns for longer than aerobic workouts.
Plan on doing Cathe.com muscle-building tapes. she has a program that lasts for three months with 37 videos. She says it is like having a personal trainer at home. That's what I need a personal trainer and exercise that is fun!!!

Okay...really lovin' the Shimmy thang! (thankyou FitTV)
Turbo Jam also gets my vote.
Bellydancing is the next frontier...
Recently I purchased the following (from Dollar Tree, no less) and am enjoying a rotation of them all:
1.Cardio Hula with Kili
2.Hula Abs & Buns with Kili
3.Tantric Toning workout with Stephanie de Phillipo
4.Pilates for Wimps (Annika Carlson)
5.Yoga for Urban Living (Hemalaya Behl)
If you don't have a Dollar Tree in your area...they all come from a company called Natrualjourneys--- www.naturaljouneys.com (though, THEY MAY charge more than a buck. GOTTALOVEDOLLARTREE!)

I too Love me some Turbo Jam. Chalene makes it fun. Have a Blast away the Pounds Indoor Walk with Denise Austin. OK, she is a little annoying with her perkiness. She does say in one segment "We're melting butter now!" which I thought was a hoot and kind of like it. Have the Slim in 6 but not as fun as Turbo.

That's great about your 99 cent deals! I am actually in the process of converting some of my VHS tapes to DVDs, so once that is done I'll have some old bellydance VHS tapes I can mail you if you are interested? It will probably be in the next month or so (I'm in the middle of moving right now, and the stuff is in storage). Let me know if you are interested, so you can bellydance to your heart's content without the checkout guy embarrassment (although the kitties are another story- mine thinks I'm nuts too! lol) :)

I loved tracy Anderson Mat Workout(especially arm section), T-tapp Total Workout, Ellen Barrett Fat Loss Fusion.
I tried Turbo Jam and instructor was too enthusiastic to me(I would say artificially enthusiastic). Workout is nice. The same happened with Leslie Samsone - workout is great, but she is too chatty for me. You just have to try it for yourself. I did exchange them for others though on video fitness forum.

Saw I posted turbojam two years ago, ha! That was like 3 dress sizes ago, lol...
Now I'm totally, completely and forever in love with kettlebells. Will never go back to weights and cardio. Kettlebells are SO much more effective and in much less time.
check out these resources:
ontheedgefitness.com-"The Ultimate Bodysulpt and conditioning," 1 and 2
dragondoor.com-"enter the kettlebell" and "the goddess workout" dvds.
Really effective and fun!
