I am still detoxing a bit, and so my stomach gets queezy sometimes. I know it will pass with time as my body adjusts and cleanses itself.
I'm just wondering if any of you ever experience that great 'stick to your ribs' feeling that one gets from a very satisfying cooked meal? If so, which dish or dishes give you that feeling?
Thanks. :)

Once, I drank a huge (16 oz) glass of grapefruit/orange/lime juice, and afterwards I felt full and had a settled stomach like I never have before on raw foods.
So, if you have a queazy/empty stomach feel, try some citrus juice.

you will get a full, totally satisfied feeling eventually, don't worry. and you'll come to recognize that old comforting "stick to your ribs" feeling as too heavy, too energetically depleting. seriously, if you step off the path after going down it a bit and try those old comfort foods, you'll be amazed at how lethargic and weighed down it makes you feel.

The fullest I have felt so far is with raw tacos.
Romaine leaves as shells,
salsa (Alissa's book),
guacamole (Alissa's book),
and spicy walnut taco meat (originally posted by Rawcutter):
1.5 cups walnuts
2 cloves garlic
2 Tbs cumin
1 Tbs chili powder
tabasco
sea salt
lime juice
-process walnuts, garlic, cumin and chili powder in FP until desired consistency. add tabasco, sea salt and lime to taste and pulse a few times to incorporate.
We all get a really full feeling from this meal. Especially if you chop up the romaine & do it as a salad. I have to do the romaine as shells or I get too full!
Oh, for the tobasco sauce I make a raw version made from apple cider vinegar & red pepper flakes in the VitaMix.
Recipes with nuts and/or avocados do it for me. I dont care for that feeling any more but in the beginning it helped me transition. Nut loafs, nut burgers, guacamole, Storms tabouli salad, Alissa's collard rolls are great, Storm and Jingee's strawberry shortcake, Alissa's strawberry crepes. So many really satisfying recipes.

I get really full from everything now. Even an apple. My stomach is back to it's normal size and I stopped eating to the point of discomfort, which I used to do a lot when I ate cooked food. Now I recognize the difference in my own body anyway. I think it's also a mental process you go through...how you relate to food changes I believe. What we think is okay and get accustomed to...like eating to the point of saturation is not really a good idea for the stomach. I think the stick to your ribs feeling goes by the wayside. One thing that always helps me with this is your enclosed fist is about how big your stomach is. Just put this visual up against one of those monster super sized plates of food some folks eat. When I see people eating extremely large plates of food which is the norm in our (US) culture, it really looks surreal to me now.

Hello there,
Don't worry you will adjust to the lighter feeling that meals give you with time. Really! :-) Now I often feel stuffed just from fruit! :-)
Until then when you are craving that full, heavier feeling take the great advice in this thread and go for the fatty foods. Anything with avos, nuts, nut milks, pates, spreads, etc.
WHen I first went raw my favorite "filling" heavy foods were:
Alissa's Mock Salmon Pate wrapped up in romaine leaves with tomatoes, avos and chopped purple onion. DELISH!
PEsto on zucchini noodles
Pesto Stuffed Mushrooms
Eggplant pizza crusts topped with avocado and purple onion.
A DELICOUS smoothie made with coconut water and flesh, frozen bananas and almond butter.
Just hang in there, it will happen!
Blessings,
Audrey

Thank you all for your replies. :)
From your answers, it seems that that good old 'stick to your ribs' feeling after a meal is going to be a thing of the past. It kind of makes me a little sad to think that, because it was one of the reasons I would gorge on bad foods like (cooked) pizza. I loved that feeling. :o
But it will surely be much happier life to be the proper weight, and healthy. In a few weeks, I will hopefully join the elite high powered blender owners, and then will get to work on some of these fancy raw recipes that look so good. ;)

It's a grieving process in a way as you transition. Hang on to your good feelings gauge and be prepared to be blown away. lol. You will still have good feelings just in different ways. And say goodbye to that tired, worn out, need to take a nap after a heavy cooked meal feeling. :p
